phenom x4 970t blck edtition

Buying off of ebay is a risk, have bought a faulty GPU (i luckily got my money back) and i also got a 550Be for £40 new in its box :)
As for your current CPU purchase for £10 more you can get a 6 core CPU that will clock to 3.8 minimum on the right board, i don't understand why you are taking the chance?

nahhhhhh, my mobo is 57£ posted, my case was 15£ posted, i got a lucky ebay bid, and its akasa a62, witch are awesome cases, and my 850w psu was £70
sooo, my budget is £90 and £57 of that is going towards my mobo, then ima need a cpu cooler. thats my budget over, but im selling some stuff and so i can buy ram and small extras, and my gpu and a second hdd will hopefully come from my b day

to be honest i think we should just give this kid a break and wait for it to arrive. no one will know for sure until it arrives and he fits it all together how it will turn out.
i have my doubts about it being genuine, especially being from HK as i know there are a lot of shenzen companies out there that rip people off. but he might get lucky.
he has a psu that is a known dodgey brand, but, im sure if 100% of them were bad they wouldnt be allowed to trade, so again, he might get lucky.
i really do hope this works out for him, as, like he said, he is limited for funds and wants to do something different. brave or stupid, we will see.
the only thing i think he has done wrong is ordered then asked, then was suprised not everyone was congratulating him on his purchases.

It could be fake, due to the CPUZ saying Thuban, when it is, infact, a Zosma.. But I'm not even sure they ever got released, I know they're not in the normal channel (Which is why the people saying "Buy it retail" are wrong".. )
I've never seen them at all...

thanks paradise.
My case is a AKASA eclipse-a62 and its real nice for a case the cost me £15.
And yes my psu is a 850w modular ICUTE psu, ive had this conversation before, and it cant be all that bad, as when i shorted my intel cpu pins with thermal compound my cpus did not frry. soo i aint complaining, ive never had a problem and at 850w it does the job fine.
is zosma another revision of the x6, it looks like it was amd's x6 thuban version of the 970 tbh. maybye it was unstable, but ive asked and he claims to have run them 10 ours strait on prime 95 and intel burn sooo, ive just gota wait and find out, sorry for the delay, but my build wont be finished till mid aprill.
heres my build logg so far (including my previus xeon build) ****

He has a smouldering PC IIRC.

Fixed :p

Had a look today, the 1055t is £108 ex VAT (~£130) at the mo in certain places

OP, why? WHY? Ask before making choices. MSI boards with 4+1 phase CPU power delivery are no good for x6 chips, trust me on this.

And an iCute PSU, serving up a 140w CPU + a high end GPU...

tbh, higher ghz? becuase gaming is slowley becoming more about the faster ghz?
my icute will do fine.
and would you like to tell me a motherboard i can afford that will unlock cpu core's and support xfire?

Seriously, im not just saying this to pee you off/put you down etc etc. Im saying it as honest, good advice:

Change your PSU.

Eh? All "mid/high" end multicore CPUs are fine for gaming. CPU speed has left games behind lately

my icute will do fine.

Ok...

Rough budget? Remember you are asking your board to unlock a x4 CPU to an x6, with all the voltage that it entails, and I assume you are going to clock it some? The whole point of unlocking AMD chips and clocking them is to get moar for nowt, not spend more on a chip which may not unlock than one which is already an X6 and cheaper? AMD 1055T £139.99 @OcUK inc VAT

I can vouch for this board: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-279-GI&groupid=701&catid=1903&subcat=1782 at £81

Edit: Don't support Cross Fire though

Cant believe I just read through 4 pages of this thread...... I would never pay this guy to fix/build me a pc lol

jebus...

Regarding the iCute PSU, I will just leave this here.

  • How do you know it gives out power in accordance to the ATX spec?
  • How do you know the rails are stable and have low ripple?
  • How do you know the components inside are of high quality and will last?
  • How do you know that the shorting out incident is a one off?
  • How do you know the PSU will deliver the rated spec?

Zosma is to Thuban, what Callisto is to Deneb.

best thing I have found with PSUs, or at least a rule of thumb I tend to use personally, how much does it weigh? my OCZ weighs a lot! where-as my mates generic PSU is a featherweight by comparison, usually a decent indicator of a quality PSU. to be honest as well though, a load of the PSU reviews online are a load of balls, for example something I bring up sometimes regarding PSUs, my 4870X2 absolutely should not run on a 450W PSU right? well it did, comfortably with no problems for a number of weeks just to see if it could, don't think they measure these things correctly. :)

did some digging about that psu just out of curiousity/procrastination from meterology. Found this: forum.lowyat.net/topic/391633. Might be a little out of date, but if they hadn't already, alarm bells would be ringing in my head if i were you

as for the cpu, id be interested in seeing a zosma in action... not too sure about the price paid but it aint stupidly overpriced.

my psu is fine

your icute psu isn't an ap-850 by any chance, with 4 12v rails at 20A each is it ?

yeah a Icute ap-850AS
and althoug it sates 850w, thats the peak and its load is 750w

surely your mum and your aunties pc dont count as a "pc builder" :D

not quite what i do, i build pc's for freinds and well obvsly other clients that need the building, i also do upgrades and repairs.

urm, about the same as a nitendo wii ( i dont have scales) and a bit lighter than a xbox 360 arcade :P
if it goes down its my fault, but i think people dont like the branding, anyone that critisised ever owend a high end icute psu?
