Philips 20" 200W6CS Widescreen TFT LCD

ys, but remember they might well be going on the spec from the Philips site, might not actually mean they have the right version in stock. Be careful, but hopefully Philips have done the smart thing and made it obvious on the box or something which version it is. Will let you know when i get more clarification on the 8ms edition

Thanks Baddass, would be perfect if Gibbo can source them and sell it here, £340 is the cheapest 20" WS TFT i've seen for TFT this size in its class. And for a P-MVA panel too, may I dare suggest that these will sell better than the Belinea. Considering Phillips is a bigger brand name, and I know which one i would be getting if it comes down to it.

well the Belinea is about £323 at the mo, but i know what you mean, nice to have some more choice. Once we have good clarification about the 8ms edition then i will certainly speak with Gibbo and suggest a stock. Don't want to jump the gun in case it's not out yet :)

I contacted an online retailer and confirmed that they stock the 200W6CS/00 version with the 8ms response time and 800:1 contrast ratio. They cannot comment on the panel used - I ll try to contact philips about that.

I can find a retailer with the lastest version with '50+' in stock, but that's not to say they are actually selling the latest version. They might be confused by the change of the sub-code of the model number.

OK we are violating the competitor talk rule here but the really seem to be 2 versions of the monitor the 05 (SIPS) and the 00. The question is: does the 00 use a different updated panel (PMVA??) or the updated specs is just a marketing trick?

thats why i suggested it was a P-MVA panel, the specs of the 00 model are certainly indicative of this panel, and it's the one used in the Beline 102035W. Waiting for 100% clarification though :)

OK I got a reply from philips and the answer is that both models are exactly the same , they use the same SIPS panel and the correct specs are 16ms and 600:1 (ie the 05 version specs are correct). The only difference between the two versions is that the 00 is intended for continental Europe and the 05 for the UK (so they come with a different power cable!).

Now I am really confused, if that is the case then why is it their spec on their site suggest otherwise?

That just makes no sense to me :(

Continental Europe has a different refresh rate and contrast ratio  .....and it seems they are getting rid of information about the 05 version from their website. Odd. Confused.

Yeah I know it doesnt make sense but the guy insisted that the 05 and the 00 versions are exactly the same product and use the same SIPS panel. When I told him that the specs are different on the philips.com website he just said that its a mistake and it shouldnt be like that!

I called phillips consumer care, its a 090 premium rate line (£0.15/min). The guy seemed to know what he was talking about... Pretty efficient too, I was on the phone for less than 2min (didnt really want to keep it too long!).
