Philips 20" 200W6CS Widescreen TFT LCD

I'm sorry but I can't believe for a second that there two versions, one for the UK and one for the continent.

This is a search for '200w6cs' on the UK section of the Philips website.
http://www.search.philips.com/search/search?q=200w6cs&s=consumer&l=gb_en&h=

Look at when the info for the '05' version got added to the website, and then look to see when the '00' version got added. It's surely a newer version.
If the '00' version is not for the UK then why are they mentioning it on the UK section of their website?

I agree it doesnt make sense to me either, the guy on the phone sounded pretty convincing though and answered straight away... In other websites the 00 model appears with the 05's specs. I give up. I guess its impossible to tell unless you get the (supposedly) 8 ms version in your hands.

Well I've just called them and at first i was just told that they were the same monitor but one is sold in the UK and the other in Europe.

I then I asked if they were identical and I was told that "the 05 has a 20.1 inch screen, whereas the 00 has a 20 inch screen" I thought they were all 20.1 inch, but just referred to as 20inch, no?

So then I mentioned that the spec is different (response and contrast) and he seemed almost suprised that I mentioned it. I could hear him clicking about on his screen and then he confirmed that there were differences between the screens.

I should add that his knowledge did not inspire me with confidence!

Not sure what my call has achieved except to find out that the panels are almost certainly not the same.

Any more news ? I've being doing my best impression of Columbo trying to find out more information, but no luck :(

edit : more info. Another big UK retailer has confirmed that the stock they have is of the 8ms version of the screen, and they have updated their website accordingly. Clearly the '00' version is not for continental europe only.
So, how to find out who makes the panel

Hi there

All the UK suppliers spoken too today seem to have the 16ms one in stock but are unsure about the 8ms version.

Tomorrow gonna speak with Philips direct to see if they can sort anything out. :)

Hi there

OK good news, spoke to Philips, allocated 8ms version to us and got a deal price and stock arrives this evening. :D :D :D

They shall be on the website within an hour or so. :)

Gibbo I love you right now :D

Umm, give em a call back and find out what panel is being used in the screen :p

All they are willing to guarantee is that its an 8ms screen with 800:1 contrast ratio, so make of that what you will.

i have had confirmation from Philips that the stock is all the 8ms now, and the 16ms version was discontinued:

The model 200W6CS/00 and 200W6CS/05 have the same specifications, 8ms and contrast1:800. What you have seen is from the first ones of the this model they are no longer made. The model 200W6CS/05 is only sold in the UK 200W6CS/00 in the rest of Europe, and that has something to do with the power supply, that is all.

im trying to find out what panel that is.......pretty sure it's the AUO 8ms P-MVA but want to be sure :)

I've been searching for info for days, but I cannot find anything.

As long as those quoted viewing angles are correct then I am pretty happy that it must be the AUO P-MVA screen. But I'm just a screen-noob.
