Phoenix Point - new strategy game from X-COM creator Julian Gollop

Phoenix Point has reached the first stretch goal adding vehicles to tactical combat! This is great news as vehicles will add another dimension to the gameplay, in addition to the human factions, that will allow it to differentiate itself from Firaxis' pretty amazing XCOM games. The artwork below is of a New Jericho armoured vehicle and looks pretty darn good! I can't wait to get my hands on this game in early access!

The second stretch goal is for floating bases!

Julian Gollop talks through a battle in the early alpha build of the game & I have to say that it's already looking like everything I hope it will be!

This is very interesting to me, I will definitely be keeping an eye on it.

Considering how early it is in the development process it certainly looks like they've got all their ducks in a row. The funding campaign ends in just over a day & I don't know if they'll be doing slacker backer options or not so I've backed it already. Just a heads up that today at 9:00pm BST Julian Gollop will be on a live stream of the Phoenix Point alpha hosted by UnstableVoltage. You can watch it here:

I have been playing through XCom again lately and I do very much enjoy these kinds of games.

Yep, I recently, well last year, completed Enemy Witinin. Great game, bit short, but I definitely need to revisit.

For anyone who missed the campaign, you can still buy into Early Access at: https://www.fig.co/campaigns/phoenix-point

I would've been quite pleased to hear that this was going ahead, but it doesn't exactly fill you with confidence when Natwest freaks out this afternoon and thinks the money I pledged a few weeks ago was taken fraudulently.

Still, at least my I can use my card again.

Same thing happened to me with another bank & it's the bank's fault due to the algorithm they use… whenever I order from OcUK the exact same thing happens and I usually end up having to phone both to get it through. It is infuriating
