has there been any in game footage shown off or anything interesting on this yet?
Content and Feedback
Backer Build One is a pre-alpha build of the tactical portion of the gameplay. It contains the demo map which you may have seen from the previous events that we attended. It also includes procedurally generated maps.
In Backer Build One you will play as the New Jericho faction, controlling 2 Assault soldiers, 1 Sniper and 1 Heavy. The Backer Build includes the free-aiming system introduced at EGX Rezzed and the inventory system which we have not yet showcased.
A help document is included with the download detailing key-bindings and some gameplay tips.
Should you encounter any bugs within the Backer Build (and you will), please submit a bug report. When you encounter a bug, just hit F12. The game will capture the current screenshot. You can click on the screenshot in the bug report. This will allow you to draw on and highlight any issues on the screen. You can also submit your name or email address along with a title and description of the bug. When you send the report, all of this information along with anonymous system data such as hardware configuration and the game's logs will be sent directly to the Snapshot Games QA team.

Nice one! Keep us posted? Dying to play, but need to focus on exams for the next two weeks.
Whoa.....
- The maps look amazing, filled up with stuff and great graphic. In comparison "Firaxis" XCOM & XCOM 2 maps are completely barren, and "fake".
- Weapons can me destroyed by you or the aliens. That is not good, believe me
- Ammunition (clips), are not unlimited. Seems you will need to carry clips like we used on XCOM UFO Defence, Terror from the Deep etc. Otherwise you cannot kill aliens with your presence....
So every bullet counts....- The explosions demolish everything around. You dont have half the wall standing on air...
- As long as you do not spend all your points (like using the whole moving distance of your first action point), you can move a bit, shoot and move to cover (for example). That imho makes the game bit more tactical.
- Inventory IS BACK. Now you can carry few bit that you aren't equipped (like on the old XCOM games).
I have found a bug and reported it, that when the aliens destroy your weapons, the animation kinda of freezing and game takes time to move a trooper.
But bugs are expected. This is alpha version.
Now I wrote this, trying to figure out how to kill the big boss, without weapons & ammunition and couple of guys dead. Seem need to figure out where the supply crates are and get stuff out.
FYI the article is great

Really haven't had much optimism for a kickstarter game going up against the XCOM remakes, but this is very encouraging. What was the music and SFX like? UFO Defence had the best sound effects and music.
Also floating houses I thought Xcom Apoc did such an incredible job with destructible environments, especially for the time, which was what 97/98?
For a pre-alpha it's a pretty darn good showing of the tactical combat aspect of the game. It looks more than promising imho & if they nail the strategic layer then this could, could, give Firaxis a serious run for their money.
I've never played an Xcom game
If you ever try some of the old (and good ones), try Terror From the Deep.... Summer 1995 is still memorable.
Especially when you encountered Lobstermen while still using harpoons weapons.
I still to this day think there isnt anything that comes close to the original X-Com. Maybe Xenonauts comes pretty close but it doesnt feel quite the same. I have just recently installed the absolute original Xcom (Open X-Com) and began playing that again. Good it is such a bloody good game, just with there was a HD texture mod or something.
Unfortunately those games back then, were monolithic and developed without the ability to inject code, like we are doing with LUA over the last few years.
