First ever post in this thread! Dell 2001FP left dormant while nVidia sort out DualView on Vista   .

And yes that is a MacBook Pro running Vista, as it should be!

OMG where did you get that desk! just moved into new house and am looking for a nice corner desk...and i want that one!!!

I got it from furniture123.co.uk. Its called a living dimensions desk. They ran out of stock and so it gets added to the website as and when they get stock in. This is because the stuff is made in america.

I phoned the uk supplier today to see about a replacement part and they said stuff is coming through again so more should be coming on the website. If you get no joy from them email my trust and I can give you the distributors number DBE to see about ordering direct :)

They do other stuff apart from the desk, storage units like this larger pic...

2 xbox 360's ? Man you greedy ;)

I wanted one for downstairs when I didnt have a larger screen upstairs. At the time buying just a powerblock for the 360 was £60. I thought I would buy the leads then just take the unit downstairs as I needed too. It was almost as cheap to buy a core. :D Also I had one break twice and couldn't be bothered waiting for repairs.

Most places just swap them straight over if you have a faulty one, I know where I work we do.

Still I do see your point.

Heathen!

Too scared to give a real OS a chance, probably :p

Tried my hardest to use it for about 10 days. Its just no good for what i need. I see the pull of the OS to ahem, 'simpleton' use. But multitasking is a nightmare and it is a LOT slower than Vista. Sorry it just is, firefox takes up to 5 seconds to load, let alone the horrendous port of MSN messenger. I tried Adium before you ask :p. Vista is a lot faster to use, everythings instant or thereabouts. I see the attraction to certain users, the lack of maintenance and it does 'just work', but being a Windows user for god knows how long, I automatically keep my windows 'maintained'.

Anyhoo, its an awesoe bit of kit and i will use OSX occasionally if only to conserve battery life!

You never discovered Expose, did you? :p

I did and that was one feature i did like, but i didnt like the way alt-tab (apple tab even) tabbed between programs and not windows. I also still prefer a taskbar style thing with all my active stuff going on, active windows that is. I also got annoyed having to apple tab back into the program after i'd closed it, to actually quit it.

In the meantime, i found a pic of my old setup at uni.

Chopped the iDeq in for a macbook now, not sure what I'll do with my abundance of screen real estate once I'm back there (most probably get more :p).

dont know how people run 2 or 3 moniters at a time , surely this is a big waste of electricity , why do you need more than 1 todo something on a pc , why

 There are plenty of reasons why.

And if you can afford two monitors then I doubt the extra few quid on the electricity bill is of any concern...

 Burn the heretic!

He is contaminating the holy with the spawn of the devil!
:p

Oh yeah, Expose > two monitors anyday. Work smarter not harder as they say.

Unfortunately it's getting rarer to find these days and the cherry one seems to be easier to find than the maple one. Plus the price is over £300 these days when it used to be just £299 ;(

heres just a few reasons i went for dual screens.
  • Doubled work space area, leading to more productivity
  • funnier game play when split over 2 screens
  • just to look cool, obvious :p
  • and as said before, if you can, why not?
