[PIC_THREAD] Landscapes, Architecture, Seascapes

My personal thoughts, the sky in the first seems rather bright so I probably would have tried to drop the highlights or just a graduated filter in the sky to lower the exposure. Also, it seems like the main subject of the first pic is the building but you don't see much of it.

Second picture has the building all the way to the left so I guess it isn't the subject but then it's a little distracting.

I would have probably bumped vibrance/saturation in both but that's just preference. The second pic seems to be a bit dark which I guess is due to cloud cover? I would have probably try to brighten and maybe increase the warmth a little or something

Not bad though :) Sky looks cool but I get the impression you could milk more out of it in PP.

I've used my 10-22mm Canon lens quite a lot recently and it's nice to get those views in.

Cheers.

Think you are right about the brightness.

And I know the building is distracting in the 2nd. Just thought I'd be losing too much of the scene trying to crop it out.

I need to head up there again, taking my tripod with me, and going either morning or evening.

Don't have grad filters, and cannot afford to spend another penny on photo equipment for some time.

Yeah, tripod will help keep it sharp so you can afford to crop in a bit more if necessary. One thing I've learnt about my 10-22mm is that I don't always need to have it at 10mm hehe :) tis tempting to just cram as much in as possible even when you don't need to sometimes.

Have you got Lightroom? When I mentioned the graduated filter, I meant in Lightroom. It lets you increase/decrease exposure or other settings gradually from a certain angle. Even if you don't want to buy Lightroom right now, there's trials or other means of getting it :P

Definitely worth getting to grips with Lightroom imo!

Last weekend at Crater Lake NP

The Phantom Ship and Wizard Island taken form the tour boat

Sadly only had my 16-85 with me and needed something wider for this shot without clipping:

Not many photos of the crater itself because haze form forest fires made for poor viewing

Nice shots :D shame the reflection in that bottom pic gets cut off :p

As I said, the 16mm end of my 16-85mm wasn't wide enough and I didn't have my 10-20mm with me. I asked the boat captain if he would mind moving away slightly and he said he would. Make Nother round and wider but the second loop had a poor angle.

Oh we'll.

Soemthing witha wider lens, straight from camera - the CPL gave fantastic contrast and saturation on a very clear day
