[PIC_THREAD] Landscapes, Architecture, Seascapes

Columbia Gorge with its namesake river, taken from Crown Point at a boring time of day.

The Columbia river actual starts at the Colombian Ice-field in Alberta, Canada, where I had visited back in 2009.

Just some more tree pics... All the same tree from different angles/spots :) thought it was a nice quick little trip out considering it's about 10 miles away and I was only there for 30 mins or so :)

A HDR focus stack (6 images into 2 HDR that are stacked)

Few from a recent trip to Wales.
Don't do a huge amount of landscape stuff so any comments welcome!

I'm still not sure how I feel about your processing style, I feel you thwack clarity slider up a bit much sometimes, or possibly vibrancy/contrast. That said the sky being so dark and the tiny massive house make a great shot there! Is this the 35 still? Looks a bit wider, and think you have a 24L you use for night shots?

Still, v. Nice shot

I like 42zx's processing style for people, although it seems a bit too much for some landscapes a least for my taste.
The landscapes themselves are very nice however which is what's most important, as you can always re-process a year or so down the road if you're taste changes.. which mine seems to do.

It's definitely clarity! I'm aware if may go a bit too far and don't always like the results myself. Most of the scenery around here is quite flat and boring, just fields/grass, so I feel I have to do something to amp it up a bit.

I have been using the 28mm 1.8 for night shots but I think I'll probably end up using the 35 for those too. For the small trade off in FoV the quality is so much better. I did almost get the 24L instead of the 35L but felt the 35 would be more useful all round, whilst still being capable of night shooting.

AE, I do want to start shooting more people as I really enjoy processing them but willing subjects aren't exactly in abundance round here, only a small town.

I need to take a look at the people ones. My processing for that is definitely still coming about, although I've found I'm liable to taking colour out of people's skin I think. I'm not a big fan of lots of red faces! I like more mutual colours I'm finding.

Don't get me wrong, the results are pretty good, and the photo is lovely. I'm not sure how much everyone would like it mind you. I did seem to notice what looked like slight halo's around the trees, thought this might be CA correction combined with clarity.

Yeah, 35 is truly gorgeous I've been noticing, been showing some good results. Also, you and me both on the people front. I've been doing some event stuff recently, and its so much fun!

Mt hood summit, showing the crater and hells kitchen (Mt Hood is a dormant volcano but there are active fumaroles in the crater), illumination rock, the hogs back and the notorious bergshrund (I had a scary experience there last spring in a white out - luckily I am adept at ski jumping...) and the summit ridge. Palmer snowfield is shown to the bottom with the summer skiing operated by Timberline lodge.
