[PIC_THREAD] Landscapes, Architecture, Seascapes

Old Ford Road, Bethnal Green. What I didn't realise when I took it that the sculptures are actually translucent. Pretty cool.

One from the weekend. I got caught in a horrific hail storm 15 mins from my car when I took this, so I hope you like it! The sun was behind the hill so I took advantage of the flat lighting to do some mono processing on it. Not sure if I like it or think it's "blah"

E: I really wish imgur did a larger large thumbnail :/

Same basin but filled with clouds and from another angle. I mainly like it for the "Lonely Mountain" thing it has going on

Nobody seems to critique much in this thread. I'd much prefer to get feedback on mine, I have no idea what it looks like to other people, and I worry that my processing is affected by my shoddy monitor.

Your ones, Devrij, I like. The B&W one needs more punch in the foreground, perhaps. Might make it more of a contrast to the background. The Lonely Island (Motherlover is probably my favourite :p) one, I think needs a bit more space in the sky, to make it a bit more evenly proportioned. I had a go in MS Paint (skills) and chopped off a bit of the foreground, that didn't seem to work, but extending the sky let it 'breathe' a little more.

Is there any room for a different crop with more up top?

Like I say, I'm no pro, but if we gave feedback more this thread might be more useful and more active.

Thats the trouble with these threads they are great for getting a picture seen but not much use for getting any feedback as they move so quickly consequently they are more dumping grounds for sharing your latest shots rather than somewhere to get decent constructive feedback.

Your own thread may work better or it may not :(

Thanks very much for the feedback. I do have a wide shot of the hill, so will have a fiddle with it. It was a very bright morning with a super bright sky, so that may have been why I went with the close shot.

I really like your shot. The colours and tones all look great, and the only thing I'm uncertain about is the composition, which feels a bit busy with the angled lines cutting it up and taking attention away from the subject (especially the bright reflection in the windows), which is those awesome translucent sculptures (glass?). What would it look like with a tighter crop that cuts some of that window out? I actually like the look of it as a whole and the contrast of the colours, but my eyes keep flicking back and forth between window and sculptures.

really like that that {SAS}TB, nice composition, although the bush bottom left is a little distracting. colour works better for me.

edit: actually the B&W would have got my vote on the March photo comp.

I would love to get to Bryce in winter, looks even more stunning than summer and probably better lighting.

Great capture.
