Pics of my new car!

Car supermarket salespeople remind me of those butt holes who stalk around stalls in the indoor shopping precincts - you're minding your own business and some tart steps out in front of you and trys to spray you with something or sell you hand cream or back massage roller balls or some other completely and utterly useless junk.

It's like trying to get rid of a wasp.

I went to look at a CTR at Arnold Clark and got comedy duo trying to work their magic. The car was full of scratches and they tried to tell me metal deep scratches could be buffed out, although the price did reflect the blemishes I must admit. They went on and on and on and I hardly said a word back to them.

They asked if I wanted to buy after all their best efforts of jokes and how it would suit me and impress the ladies (I was with my girlfriend) and I said "I might have done if you had shut the **** up and left us alone to look at the car when you asked me if I needed help and I said we were fine."

No air con on that one.

It does however have 3 knobs that let you control the temperature, direction and velocity of air. But wait, theres more! You can recirculate the air in the cabin at the touch of a button, perfect for those moments when there's a heanous odour outside the vehicle.

Sheer luxury at a bargain price

I lol'd

Just saw rage guy in the random pics thread so I couldn't resist! :D

I've been pretty lucky so far with the main dealers. I get the usual tricks "This won't last long, it's a fabulous car, probably won't get another in ever!", but if I say to go away they generally do and then I approach if I want to ask.

But then I see those same cars still sat there a month later.

I have had very good experiences with Cargiant, they let you test drive anything and dont try and hard sell at all

Many, many years ago I went there and put a deposit down on an escort. They said they would check it over and get it ready for me to collect the next day. They fobbed me off that it wasn't ready for a few days and then I got a call out of the blue from one of the mechanics who felt guilty and told me the car had serious problems and I shouldn't buy it. Salesman contacted me a few days later to say it was ready and I said, "No thanks". Lucky escape. I think they take any old tat from the ex-fleet cars and it is pot luck whether you end up with a good or abused example.

How come?

To be honest, I don't know, but they seem to be a lot less pushy. I mean I often walk into dealers to buy parts and walk past salesmen doing nothing, and they don't try and sell me a car. Sometimes I get 'Can I help you?' or 'Are you looking to buy today?', but when I say no thanks they wander off. :)

When I bought the Volvo there was a rattling from the rear suspension and they said they would deal with it before I bought. Got it home and it was still rattling. When I called them they told me to take it to my nearest Volvo dealer, get what ever work that was requried done and they would pay for it.

I didn't have to fork out a penny, just give up the car for half a day. It was £700 worth of work, which I should imagine wiped out their profit margin on it.
