I've just read through this whole thread and can see various points being raised. Carcraft do seem overly expensive (imo), however surely each person is judged on an individual basis? I understand how Carcraft works, (its car finance right?) but if they can supply a vehicle on finance to someone with a bad credit history allowing them to improve their credit rating, and if said individual is quite happy with their new "purchase" and interest rate surely thats a good thing?

Selling a poor deal to somebody so ignorant they think it is a good deal is a good thing only for the business involved.

He said he's doing an apprenticeship. I think he just has a completely warped sense of the value of money.

We have an apprentice at work that spends more than half his salary each month on his 54reg mini(finance & insurance) and he clears less that £1k per month :(

Agreed - that is how business works, I think we both study business at college / uni? Either way they're out to make make a profit. If they rip off the average Joe Bloggs down to his ignorance then who is to blame?

The company trying to survive in this harsh economic environment? Or Mr Bloggs - who is quite happy with his new purchase and his finance agreement?

In this particular instance the OP has been financially ripped off, screwed over, call it what you will but he seems quite happy with the deal and it should allow him to built up some form of good credit history. My point was surely thats a good thing?

No, it is not a good thing. There are ways of building up a credit rating which don't involve a multi year loan from a car supermarket. Using a credit card and paying it in full every month has much the same effect, for example.

If you decide to sell me a 1994 Mondeo for £5000 and I'm really happy with the car and the price it doesn't make the deal a good deal, it just makes me too ignorant and badly researched to have noticed quite how badly I've just been shafted.

A classic comedy thread, 5 stars, although it's hard to tell if the OP is just trolling or not, just seems a bit too good to be true.

Its taken me ages and I have finally finished this thread.

Epic tbh.

Yet I feel sorry for the OP :(

I could have gotten a car like that for about £2500

Infact I think I'm looking at a car like it, same year, blue but with 60K for around £1500.

Niiiiccely done!

Wow..I was gutted when i looked on Auto Trader and saw that there were 2000 Focus 1.6's going for 1.5k when i paid 2.5k for it almost 2 years ago. If i was the OP i would be distraught lol.

I actually looked on CarCraft website when i was first looking for a car and immediately clicked the back button, the prices were that bad.

car craft is great for one thing 1) walking around and getting to sit in lots of different cars all under one roof.

As soon as i stepped inside the jag i knew it wasnt for me. Just didnt like it at all. Same with the honda accord as well. I thought they looked quite nice inside till i went on the internet. Too much cream and too much fake wood argh !!

but carcraft is handy in that you can swap from car to car and decide what your actually interested in test driving.

Bonus points if you string the salesman along pretending to be interested then walk out :D
