piledriver - Official AMD FX4300,FX6300 and FX8350 review thread

That's a point since this is a massive issue can we get some official word from the OCUK staff as to what revision boards they are selling? If it was listed on the product page that would be extremely helpful.

So the Crossfire V appears to work in some way as some reviews use it,but it is all rather contradictory from Asus.

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.

My name is Fiona and it's my pleasure to help you with your problem.

I am afraid to say FX 8350, 8320 couldn't support the M5A97 EVO, M5A99X EVO, or the Sabertooth 990FX motherboard.

To get support for the 2nd generation FX CPU's, you must purchase a R2.0 version board.

How come all the Gigabyte 970 and 990 motherboards are fine?? WTF,are Asus smoking?? What a scummy company - everyone else is releasing updated BIOSes. That is Asus off any recommendations by me for AMD motherboards.

I know a few people who won't be happy.

Its the reason I ditched Asus in favour of Asrock when I moved from my CHIV mate. They promised full BD support for the CHIV and when they did finally deliver (about 6 months afterwards) it was a nerfed BD - even more so than BD was normally lol!!

I'm tempted to swap my 2700k for a PD now (but defo no Asus board lol!) , hmmmmmm - I've always liked supporting the smaller player........

Think people expect to much from a company that is like 10 times smaller than intel.
judging it against bulldozer, and phenom ii at stock they have did a good job and decent price on average good upgrade for anyone still on am3+ with a phenomII.

Thats quite true, and Intel at the higher price only makes sense if you play a certain selection of games like WOW and want to to your bit for the planet in saving a bit of energy.

Other than that the 3570K almost nothing over the FX-8###

Has anyone got opinions on using hot ram for a piledriver setup? I would like to try the busclock approach to overclocking it say 250-300MHz at 16 to 18 multi. Ideally this would need 2133Mhz ram for overhead probably at 1.6V. Any thoughts?

Very skewed. Comparing a £160 CPU with a £240 one is ridiculous.

The test may be skewed but the results are still valid, the retail i5 3570K is the same price as the FX8350 and under gaming conditions will perform within 5% of the 3770K (The extra cache is pretty unimportant and HT does nothing but add heat while gaming).

What this test does highlight is that for gaming the is 0 point buying the FX8350 over the 3570K.

Realy?

Then by that measure the i7 3770K is a pointless CPU

For gaming yes, but the are people who do more with their system than game.

If you're comparing to the i5 3570k by way of that data then from the stack of graphs you have to outright dismiss the F1 physics test and potentially invalidates the sleeping dog ultra if that us due to cpu overhead. No accurate definitive conclusions can be gathered from those reviews that can be applied accross all tiers and price points (which is well accepted by all with the lower end products so why its disregarded in this case is odd).
