You'll be within cannon range soon sea dog - but it will be our mightly fleet that deafen you with it's first salvo, just in time to shatter your forecastle and then we'll pull away. Leaving you with egg on your faces and limp grappling hooks in your hands....
Oh the shame, of peaking too early, been at the rum again haven't you ;)

Your flacid attemp at mounting an offensive are a sorry state to behold.

Looking forward to seeing your small but well equiped convoy for another dance on the high seas later this year - we'll woop you then too :D

I'm showing zero impact of running quad rosettas on my folding rig. I didn't do anything special. Everything is running as a service and it all seems ok

It seems to be fine today  oh well, the 8800GTX is plodding along at between 4800-5700 depending on the WU :). It's just when running FAH on the CPU where it impacts PPD on a massive 24/7 scale. I might just keep the GPU on FAH and CPU on RAH for the time being :D

I downloaded and installed BOINC as one of my SMP clients refused to get work, but typically as soon as the install had finsihed the stanford server dished out a WU... I have another SMP cleint due to finnish tonight, so i'll run Rosetta for the remainder of the evening and see how it gets on (just two cores). Depending on how it goes, i may let it run for a while, or just early on in the week where i dont really get that many points from SMP folding...

I just went over to the Piratefleet site and saw the thread about OCUK. Its a bit disturbing that Godspeed has a facination with gay people from all the videos he has posted and would have to have watched first. Hmmm.

I've switched three cores over to Rossetta on my quad. There's a P4 at work that I've switched over and either tonight or tomorrow I'll switch my dual core machine over.

Just don't go there mejinks, I just close my eyes and put my fingers in my ears when I post there.

I thought Pirates were meant to be hardened manly men, not men hardend by videos of other men:confused:

Oh well, each to their own I s'pose. Hmm, I think I will borg my fiance's laptop later. Or is it a bad thing (temps and and stuff)?

Yeah, watch out. Even well-built laptops can get silly hot. I have a laptop 'in the game', but it's set up to use 66% of one core. That's as high as it'll go without the fan going crazy.

I've just quickly ran some numbers. So far today, the gap has widened, and if we can keep this up, we could unstomp ourselves from my old team (The Planetary Society). On a personal level, that's be rather sweet. :D

It'll sort itself out if left alone, but you can 'kick' it if you so desire. Go to the 'projects' tab, click on the project, click 'update'.

It does. The tasks should be gone and the timer will run down on its own. That always happens and as said it's to stop people 'spamming' the projects.

Okey dokey, got it running i think. I must admit i quite like the client interface - F@H really needs a piece of managemnet software like this! I have no idea what im doing though! I want to run two cores of Rosetta and two for F@H for the time being, but Rosetta wants them all! I have suspended some of the processes (and all the others it tries to start when i suspend some), and just have two running on the cores i chose for now. Is there any way to set it to just use two cores by default and not download anymore work until i have finished the unit like F@H? Also, what should i set the target CPU run time to?

Cheers

EDIT: I think i have found some of the options in the preferences section, but still not sure how i get it to download work only when i finnish the old WU...?

After reading in this thread I think my old rig is seriously outclassed (outgunned) but I guess my wooden barrel can paddle alongside the enemy and I can corkscrew a few holes beneath their waterline :D

Go into computing preferences under 'your account' on the site and limit number of CPUs to two (then 'update' the project from within BOINC Manager to register the change), or from within BOINC Manager you can set local preferences to use only 50% of available CPUs. You can then unsuspend those WUs.
