Loved Lossie and Morayshire. Met my wife up there in 1988 - still together. I joined the RAF to see the world - I could fly over my parents house in under 5 minutes from take-off

I grew up in Elgin as my dad was at Kinloss for most of his flying career. I joined up to see the world and follow in his globetrotting adventures only to find myself visiting the Middle East for 20 years! I think the Bucaneers had finished up there by then - I remember walking past the scrapyard to school and seeing them there, but I've spent a load of time at Bruntingthorpe since then seeing them taxi:

You'd have been at Cosford the same time as me.

November 2000 - February 2002, wearing some fetching blue epaulette slides. Feels like a lifetime ago now...

I was the EWO for the Jaguar Squadron out there (known as the Jaguar Navigator http://www.sutherlandweb.co.uk/images/misc/The_Independent.jpg - god I got some **** for that). Channel 4 (Mark Austin) gave me a VERY fancy video box so I could convert videos of the Pavespike Attacks for them. I still have the original video tape somewhere.

These days a 4K GoPro is almost standard issue and footage can be found anywhere - stuff from GW1 and before is priceless and I love watching it wondering how they got the massive cameras in the cockpit...

Also - awesome tash... :D

Looks almost like a Harrier not sure ?
That is the default icon used when it cannot identify the aircraft type... which usually means it's military.

After looking around, that first one seems to be some stationary equipment on a barge.

Edit: Here's an example: https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=ae4405

It's actually a V-22 Osprey.

Just saw this on the FR24 news feed:

Manual or auto pilot? Seems pretty damned accurate!

Also, that plane has been upside down :D https://twitter.com/aaibgovuk/status/1349658298782535680

Flown by a disabled pilot https://airlive.net/news/2023/03/28/a-wheelchair-was-drawn-in-the-sky-by-a-disabled-pilot/

Are the Navy doing some exercises at the moment? Had a few Merlins fly over today (not that I could see them due to cloud).

I suppose they could have been moving for that, yes. Looking forward to that later, only part of the coronation I'll be purposely watching.
