PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Thread

I know we have squad mode on this game but I wonder if it could ever work as a 50 v 50 type of game, maybe split up into separate squads.
Stonemountain ran a couple of games on custom servers 50v50. Skins and tops basically. 50 jumped start of flight 50 at the end. They then all converged into the middle (eventually) actually looked proper good fun to be part of.

you have to remember this guy has been doing this since the start.big companies which he was involved with did.h1z1 for eg.i wouldnt be surprised if it comes to battlefield.he was posting about being with dice recently.hope not :p

i tried out the fortnight one last night.my god its bad. no wonder its free :D

I think there is a market for both PUBG and Fortnite. PUBG has the more realistic look, the vehicles and better weapon modding, Fortnite has the lower PC requirements for smoothness, no vehicles but building instead and the advantage (to some people) of being free. I've watched some twitch footage recently of Fortnites BR mode and its already developing quite a healthy streaming base and the most common comment that I see from people playing/watching Fortnite is that PUBG is too slow or too boring for large portions of the game, they like the faster pace and more action of Fortnite. So in theory, there really ought to be room in the genre for both titles as they have different appeals.

Picked this up last night, looking forward to playing it later if my pc can handle it.

I didn't see any "tutorials" so is it just jump in and go balls deep?

Yeap! Enjoy. Might be worth watching some streamers to gain some tips. I have not had this much fun in a game since Wolfenstein Enemy Territory days.

not bad... just everyone else is a cheating mofo :)... I mean have you played with Prattler ?? he always get x8 scopes... something fishy about him ;)

Yeah he does know too much about looting *suspicious eyes*.

Thats pretty much how we all started. Take a look at the controls menu just to familiarise yourself with the keybinds. Pretty standard left click to win and the rest comes with experience.

Join the Discord and jump in with some squads be the fastest way to learn and everyone seems happy to help new players.

Tried to play a few games with random squads... Every game they jump out at the military base..
Well that's were you're more likely to get good guns and equipment, and lots of action. It all depends on how you want to play the game - hide and sneek in order to win, or go out guns blazing.
Get on Discord and try to squad up there :).

Why is that a bad thing though? I play with about three different groups of people on this game. There's a chap in one of those groups that gets a right moan on whenever we do a military island drop. He'll sit in the plane asking people where we're going to drop, without ever suggesting a drop himself, and then have a little whinge when we go to the military base. We'll get down on the ground, and usually there's no that many people there, but he'll land nowhere near the rest of us and get gunned down in no time, have another whinge over mic and disconnect.

This even happened a couple of nights ago, but a second player died too, right at the start of the game. Myself and the remaining chap decided to carry on as the zone was going to end up on our island, and we pulled the game around and won it, each netting 7 or 8 kills.

As has been discussed to death before, there are two early-game playstyles: deathmatch or survival. Land in a high-risk:high-reward area and either emerge fully kitted out, or you die and start a new game after a couple of minutes. Or land in a low-risk:low-reward area and spend the game trying to avoid fighting right up until the final circles.

I love survival games, and must admit I would see myself more as someone that would actively try to avoid engagements where they aren't necessary. But this game is much more rewarding, at least for me, when you land in a hot zone and fight your way out.

Had my first Chicken Dinner last night after spending quite a bit of time refining the sensitivity of my mouse and ingame options.

I watched a video a few weeks back about massively dropping mouse sensitivity. Since I changed mine, I barely miss any shots, even on running bunny hopping targets.

I've always been of the mindset that you need a fairly high sensitivity to be accurate, seems i've been wrong for many years.

Also been getting top 5 on leaderboards within BF1 since doing so as well.

I've yet to get chicken dinner, but in recent times in solo I've been way more aggressive, aiming to get in fights more and hide less, and it seems to sort of be working... at least it seems to lead to either a good game or a short game :p far fewer running around doing nothing then getting shot by someone I didn't see :)

Hopefully the new PUBG maps address this. It would be good to have a smaller map so theres action all over the map and not just in a few hot zones.

I havent watched any Fortnite streams as it isnt my cup of tea, but like Sacriel said its just because a lot of streamers have played 1000 hours plus of PUBG now and fancy a change of pace that Fortnite offers. Plus the fact its new, so a lot are trying it out. It will probably die down once its been out for a while and especially when the new PUBG maps arrive.

First chicken dinner last night on Duo game. We both only bought it on monday so were pleased with ourselves :). We somehow stayed in the last few circles and the second last one was just an open patch of land with a tiny hut. We both got in it, 3 players left. Us being noobs we didn't know if that number included us or not. Final circle left us stuck in our hut outside the circle but we knew a guy was just outside behind a rock. We both rushed him on opposite sides, team mate died, I got final kill. Pleased to know the 3 remaining number included us haha.

Once you're familiar with the controls, the best idea to get to grips with the game is to always deploy somewhere really busy. Either Military base or the School (middle building) or the high rise buildings next to the school. The more battle experience you get the better!. You're better off doing this 20 times in a row and dying quickly to start a new game. If you always pick somewhere quiet, you'll spend 20 mins looting, then get killed and gain no 'fighting' experience.

Get your hands dirty and enjoy :)

One tip..

Get your freefall speed to 234 when your chute is about to open and you'll drop an extra distance, getting you to the ground quicker. (dive down vertically)
