The community is your friends tbh, theres no need to get involved with randoms if you dont want. Trolling is fairly pointless as killing others is the entire point of the game lol.

Just make sure you mute voice chat and use discord instead unless you want profanities screamed down the mic non stop.

I like that it's easy to get in and play. What's the average length of a match say if you last towards the end? I guess that's a hard one to ask for something like this
 
I'm judging based on that fact that I enjoy it, it already has more content than DayZ did on release and is still more optimised than that was for 3 years of development.

I liked DayZ too but these devs are already 100x more interested in their community than those guys are.

Remember, DayZ as a game is finished (in it's basic sense), it's just changed from being a game getting development to developing an entirely new gaming engine - therefore it is not comparable with PUBG (I did it myself until someone pointed this out to me). PUBG uses a well established and stable engine, DayZ did not. Of course DayZ has big issues but this is due to running the old engine, something 0.63 will resolve.

Interesting PUBG has cleared 2x the amount of sales as DayZ but it is now going to be down to new content released and how the modding community carry this on. They absolutely nailed the concept by listening to players and things like skins, squads and new weapons have only helped it all but kill off A3 BR and put real pressure on H1. One masterstroke was the buzz generated on Twitch with the key giveaways as well as the quite reasonable early access price tag, particularly when you compare it to Tarkov.

Number #1 tip - CTRL + T, get rid of the autistic childish screeching.

Half an hour, to 40 minutes. Depends how campy. I find squads finish more quickly while solos take longer as I have literally found people camping most of the game.
 
Just played a game and the new patch has made foot steps far too loud, you really should not be able to hear some one in the next apartment block.
 
It's been mentioned a few times here but if you have everything on low it defaults all the processing to the CPU, raise a few settings and it puts the load over to the GPU instead. This may help, raise a few to medium/high and see how you get on.

Even my own steps when crouched seem really loud, is that how other players hear them too? I thought crouching was supposed to be near silent.

Enjoying this more each time I play. Got a top 10 on solo which is pretty amazing for me. Best moment has to be when I died early though, running to stay in border and start getting shot, run into building to heal and spot him through a window just as he spots me. Open up on each other then I run into a toilet to hide on about 10% hp. Manage to distract him with smoke and get the drop on him but took more damage and died running out of the house due to the border damage. So enjoyable even now, looking forward to more optimisations.

Players,

Before we move onto what has changed in this week's two patches, I want to briefly talk about the reports of cheating within our game. Before we moved to early access, our core focus was on adding all the needed systems into the game. Now that this is mostly complete, we are focused on optimizing performance, and increasing security to ensure everyone plays fair.

This is not a simple task, as tackling cheaters is a constant battle, but we are confident that over the coming weeks and months we can implement new measures to make it harder to cheat in the game. This week alone we closed two major holes that allowed current cheats access to the game, and as we move further through Early Access we will continue to track down and further secure the game from those that don't want to play fair.

As with all games, talk of cheating is discouraged and will be removed from our public facing community forums, not to try to hide it from players, but rather to ensure that those that cheat get no exposure to the public, which is something most of them desire! We hope you understand this point, and bear with us as we work to clean up the game.

Finally, in case you missed our announcement on Twitter, we have identified the cause of lag seen on the servers lately and are working on getting it resolved. This issue is not an easy fix, as it involves changes to the core engine code, and will take us some time to complete. We have no ETA on when this will be resolved just yet, so we ask for your patience while we fix the problem.

Now onto what we have updated. These patch notes cover both updates pushed during this week.

This patch will be deployed for both clients and servers Thursday, April 13, 5PM KST/1AM PDT/8AM UTC and is expected to take approx. 1 hour to complete.

Config Changes
  • Fixed configuration files (ini) so that it cannot be used to hide trees, grass, etc.
  • Prevented adjusting the FOV by changing the game settings file (ini).
  • FOV will be adjustable from the settings menu in-game in a future update.

Sound
  • Fixed an issue with door sounds playing at low volume
  • Adjusted volume of wind, rain, and footsteps
  • Improved the sounds for the buggy
  • When in rainy weather, you will now sporadically hear thunder sounds

Bug Fixes
  • Added more support for non-standard aspect ratios. The game will now display at the correct FOV on aspect ratios ranging from 4:3 to 21:9. Multi-monitor environments such as Eyefinity are not recommended at this time.
  • Fixed an issue with the compass direction not displaying correctly

This is not so good IMO, yes screams of haxx are done in every game, and the only way I could upload evidence of teamers in solo (not strictly 'cheating', but cheating those who were playing at the time) was to post it to youtube and like them to it in my complaint.

You need them to be exposed, more to the point if they get exposed and are cheats then just ****ing ban them. For the ones I reported I got told they will be looking at their logs and such and tbh with pretty damning evidence I wonder why.

This is the first 'hmmmm' moment i've had with this dev/studio. Don't hide it, just fix it.
