PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Thread

Got a second place in a duo with one of my sons earlier without either of us killing anyone. Holed up in a little shack that happened to be right in the centre. Just couldn't sight the other 2 players. I am really enjoying it, so much so that when I have my gaming session tomorrow while the wife is away I won't be playing dota for a change. Performance wise not been bad at all considering my spec. I have had the dissappearing wheels bug on a buggy once and a few crashes but not too bad considering its pre-release.

Thought it was battleye.

Sound update is a mix on one hand everything sounds awesome on the other it's all too loud you can hear people crawling and doors closing 2 floors up.

Maybe I need to change my settings but I'm struggling to work out where shots are coming from or distance now :(.

I agree sounds are better but sometimes I'm not sure who I'm hearing me or the enemy. Loads of noises coming in from all over and difficult to locate.

Still no Chicken Dinner :(

DG you're such a troll

:)

I've not played much recently due to work/other games but I'm liking it very much so far, can't wait for the first person mode - think that'll be when I play the game a lot more.

gah had a 2nd for duo right at the end in the tiny circle, jebus was good to me and the circle ended up with me having the only cover, but the loot gods were not kind and I had no med supplies so couldnt heal my previous damage. only one other guy remaining too and could have finished him with full health :(

Cheers to puppet for getting us right up to that point too, didnt even see the guys until they had finished him off :(

Out of curiosity though, why dont you just keep the game. You say you intend to play it down the road, I cant understand the logic behind you buying it, trying it, refunding it, then buying it again, trying it again , refunding it again , only to say then you are going to buy it a 3rd time in another month and then possibly refund again and then buy again a 4th time after that. Just seems like a lot of hassle to me, I'd just buy it the once and play from time to time while I wait for it to get to the point that I want. In my logic, 27 quid now or 27 quid later, I'm still paying 27 quid either way.

Also the refund system doesn't reset to two hours with each purchase, it accrues the hours. So for his two refunds so far, it will add the time for both purchases.

I only found this out when buying that POS Conan for the second time when I was assured it was so much better...it wasn't and now i'm stuck with it.

New thunder sounds have made me nearly **** myself twice already. They have changed it in the update haven't they? Never got it me before how it gets me now.

I thought my sounds were playing up at first, really booming and freaky, defintely adds to the atmosphere.

Anyone getting terrible FPS after the last update?

I know it's not optimised, but last night (even inside buildings), getting 40~ fps. Looking at the floor would increase it to 80-90, with the game being very jumpy with lows of 18~ FPS!!
This is on 1600x900, all settings on very low.

Beforehand I was getting around 60-130fps dependent on where I was, but being inside a building with such bad FPS makes me worry! My machine was wanting to restart to install the creators update, I wonder if that may have been killing it. Argh!

It's been mentioned a few times here but if you have everything on low it defaults all the processing to the CPU, raise a few settings and it puts the load over to the GPU instead. This may help, raise a few to medium/high and see how you get on.

I get pretty poor performance, when I open my inventory it hangs my game for 5 seconds or so :( Not sure why my machine isn't that bad :(

My mate had that too. Only when using Tab to get inventory.
He was on an older X58 system @ 4ghz with a GTX970.
He fixed it by upgrading memory from 6GB (DDR3) to 16GB at a higher mhz.
Can't confirm whether that would definitely fix it for you though sorry :(

Top tip: Run over to a blank wall and stare at it on the starting island when playing about with settings, this way when people are joining, throwing smokes, shooting, playing snakes etc. it doesnt make your fps jump about too much.

Or if you live life on the edge, do the same once you have landed, just be prepared to have someone punch your head into said wall :D

Thanks for that mate, nice to know I'm not alone with it. Everyone I play with hasn't heard or had that issue so at least I know haha... Tempted to do a mini upgrade but would suck if it didn't work. I will try and OC my CPU tonight and play around with some of the settings in game and see if that helps a bit.

Thanks mate

Kind of interested in this. The Giant bomb guys just praised it on the podcast. I've held off from games like this in the past as the communities seem to become really toxic, I dunno it's just a feeling I got from seeing it played etc

Is it worth giving it a go?

True Its fairly risk free now I suppose! Is it quick to get in to a game etc? I remember watching a friend on h1z1s mode and it just seemed like it took for ever to actually get playing

The matchmaking in this is excellent. Never taken longer than a few seconds to chuck me into a lobby and then a minute pre game to fill up.

If you get in and experience lag swap the the NA servers the second game. I will say playing in a squad is much more fun however more difficult if you find solo to be boring. There's a fair few of us on the OcUK Discord if you fancy giving squads a go.

Jumping over things is a pain in the arse but I am under the impression it's more the case of getting the timing right than it being buggy.
