It's really not going to happen

Square Enix CEO's laid out conditions for an FFVII Remake. Yoichi said they will not remake FF7 until they produce a game with beats it quality wise.

Here is the quote.

An interesting tidbit has come out of Square Enix's annual shareholder's briefing, which was held today (Tuesday, June 26th, 2012). When CEO Yoichi Wada was asked about a possible Final Fantasy VII remake, he replied saying that the company will produce one only when a new Final Fantasy game bests it, quality-wise.

Wada admitted that at present, the company is not making Final Fantasy games that exceed the quality of FFVII. If they were to release a 7 remake right now, the FF franchise would be done with, he said.

While these statements could be taken as high praise for FFVII, it has more negative connotations when it comes to current state of the Final Fantasy franchise.

Am I the only one who wants to see some new IP's? Don't get me wrong I love GoW, Uncharted etc as much as the next guy, but have been done to death. GT being the only exception as I don't think it lived up to its potential on the PS3 hardware, given the restrictions. Last of us, stuff like that is what excites me, would have made a great PS4 launch title.

Saying that ill probably be screaming like a little girls if they show GoW4 tonight!

Even with those conditions laid out I'd still rather see a FFVII remake. Haha.
 
Yeah the Final Fantasy name has really gone down the pan since probably FFX. Each new game used to be an incredible journey with polished JRPG elements that you just never forgot. I still have incredible memories of play 7, 8 and 9. For some reason, ever since these games, SquareEnix seem almost embarrassed to make something similar, always striving to get as far away as possible from what made them great. I'm just bloody sick of these spin-off games...

Personally I'd like to see a brand new Final Fantasy XV announced tonight. A proper Final Fantasy title with full JRPG elements. That is what would get me excited. None of this FF13+2+3+4 versus crap.

If you play online then you pretty much do anyway as you get a lot of input lag on that game online.

It's up to you which flavour you go with really :p it seems many sites and even some stores like GAME are doing their own stream/coverage of it. I couldn't decide who to go with so I'm just gonna stick with Sony's.
