***** PlayStation Vita Official Thread *****

the resistance demo is now up. its worth trying just to see that an FPS could work well on the vita but it just feels really dull and basic. like small little are, fight enemies that barely move, then move on. but graphically its pretty nice for a first fps, and the controls seem good other than a few awkward touch controls but they arent as bad as people make out. i dont know if you can sprint? i cant get him too so it seems a bit slow there

try the demo and see for yourselves but i am definatly giving it a miss, especially at that price! if it ever comes down to like £15-20 in some sale or preowned then maybe

sprinting is double tap on backscreen or press down on directional pad. I bought it and like it and think it play's well on a handheld for a fps. Online was good also.

Gravity rush - thought looked OK, tbh wasn't that amazed and wouldn't buy it.

Resistance - I thought was a lot better than I was expecting. Played very well and proves that Fps on the vita works well. Biggest downside for me were graphics, they just weren't very good!

Problem I have is that I also own a New iPad and a Samsung galaxy tab 7.0 plus. So I'm constantly comparing and I have to say if it wasn't for wipeout and the strong possibility of a version of COD I would sell the Vita :(

Dunno if everyone has heard the rumours flying around but apparently at E3 SONY will be announcing cloud gaming for the VITA. Streaming PSone and PS2 games direct to the console etc this being free for PS+ Members and others paying for the privilege. Now most it seems are LOVING this idea.

However I could not be disappointed, the whole thing I used to love about playing the PSone games on the PSP was the ability to be on a plane and playing FF7 to pass the time, with cloud gaming you would need a constant! internet connection :(

Thoughts?

Streaming is ****. Proper backwards compatibility would have been d far better, we don't all sit at home playing on the Vita.

Assassins Creed Liberation will be out exclusively on the Vita on the same day as AC3 for the PS3. Same time area, female assassin, same kind of gameplay, not connected to Desmond.

Assassin's Creed III: Liberation is a Vita exclusive game, set in the same time period as AC3 on the big consoles.
Probably the most interesting part is that in Liberation, we get to play as a female assassin! About damn time!

Not all that much is currently known about the project, but here's a list of things of what we actually do know so far:
  • Its out same day as AC3 (October 30)
  • Location is New Orleans
  • Female assassin named Aveline
  • Looks like same time period as AC3
  • Ubisoft Sofia is developing
  • Takes place during 1765-1780 in the period between the end of the french and indian war
  • One of the bullet points is that it's "true AC gameplay"
  • Will not connect to desmond
  • Will have "multiplayer specifically tailored to the vita experience"
  • "The game has been released as a propaganda tool by Abstergo, who want players to experience a gray area of the Assassin/Templar conflict as an assassin rather than a templar"
  • Aveline's mentor is an escaped slave named Agate, leader of the assassins in New Orleans
  • Wildlife like alligators "wait on the banks of the swamp or hide beneath murky waters"
  • Liberation will also take players across the Gulf into Mexico"
  • Game will take place in "Large gameplay areas, you can run, climb, fight, and explore the entirety of New Orleans without loading a new area."
I also found a leaked picture of the new female protagonist and a first screenshot

Whats marvel vs campcom like? Thinking of getting it, really need some new games ;(

Supposed to be very good if you like your fighters. The Vita D-Pad is excellent so go for it!

I finally got a chance to play Gravity Rush this morning and loved it. Looking forward to the full game.

I really can't believe that backwards compatibility for PS1 games still hasn't been introduced, it was probably one of the main reasons I got the system.

I was actually thinking of selling mine as I just wasn't using it but I think instead of doing that I might pick up some of the games I skipped at release like Wipeout and Lumines, it's just a shame these games still seem to be pretty expensive to pick up.

I've tried the demos for both Gravity Rush and Resistance and I didn't think either was particularly impressive but I might pick one up just to get more use out of the system.

It's a shame really because the device itself is superb, its just the lack of decent games that have let it down, I should really have learnt my lesson though with the amount of times I used my PSP!
