***** PlayStation Vita Official Thread *****

I think the Tearaway bundle (16gb mem card + wifi Vita) at £159.99 is about the best currently as a package. That is the Sainsburys price.

Aye and pre xmas was about £140. Cant really judge by historic prices as they may not get there again for a whole but £140 is lowest I ever saw it :)

I've only looked on the game website and they only seem to have the console on it's own. I was hoping to find something like, PS Vita, memory card and something like Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. The best i've found so far is for a Vita, 16gb memory card, Tearaway and LBP download. Has anybody played Tearaway? What's it like?

Is the PS VITA Slim release date being announced tomorrow? If so, has anyone got a rough idea of how much it will cost? Surely it will be cheaper than the current VITA right?

Not sure about Toukiden, I'm enjoying the demo, but if it's just smashing square and triangle for hours on end I'm not sure I'll get it.

It is lovely to look at though and pretty smooth in gameplay terms, just seems like it'll be overly samey.

So apparently the price of the slim will be £179, kinda surprised by that, seems to much. I guess ill be looking in to the second hand OG market then.

Decided to sell my Vita, could tell after 10m I was never going to get on with it :( So glad I didn't get my GF to get me one for xmas.

Definitely way too much. Even though it has 1GB internal memory and a better battery, I still expected it to be at least original Vita price if not a tiny bit lower... Especially when you can pick an original up with a 16GB card and some games for lower than that :\ (Plus the new vita doesn't have an OLED screen)

Retailers will be forced to reduce it after a few months as people would rather get the OLED model and thats IF they buy a Vita.

I read online that there's nothing between both screens and initial suspicions were unfounded.

surely there must be a youtube video showing both screens side by side?

they said there was a slight difference in hue or something and that was it.

anyone got any proof the OLED screen is superior?

This is the best comparison I've seen: http://www.product-reviews.net/2014/01/29/ps-vita-slim-oled-vs-lcd-before-uk-release/

The Vita1000 seems to have much better contrast and black levels whereas the LCD looks muted in comparison.

http://www.vg247.com/2013/09/12/photo-comparison-of-oled-vita-screen-and-the-new-lcd-emerges/

in this one the lcd looks better to me.

the OLED looks too dark in some dark scenes and i have heard of black blotch and screen burn issues, although for screen burn you have to be keeping a static image for a long time and I have always bought plasma but I know OLED especially early versions of it is far worse than plasma for image retention.

screen burn is non existent on plasma these days but still an issue for OLED.

the OLED looks cooler (bluer) and oversaturated, the LCD looks like a slight green tinge but with slightly accurate more normal colours.

there is no definitive answer to which is better but to what you prefer imo.

I would really need to see both in front of me tbh, as with videos it depends how the camera is set up a lot it could have a bias towards one than the other.

also I heard OLED is bad for sun glare as well.

if I had to choose i would probably opt for the newer one because of battery life, bigger buttons and it's lighter and slimmer.

screen wise OLED has better blacks but I think it's a oversaturated picture on the whole, the LCD is more accurate but a bit washed out, not as deep as the OLED. I would probably prefer the OLED screen tbh if it wasn't so dark on dark scenes and have blotch issues.

it's not a easy choice to make between them imo, both have their good sides and downsides. if they had improved the OLED screen in the second version obviously that would have been the best of both worlds.

i really need to see both of them in real life imo before I can decide.

Why didn't you get on with it? Tried a grip?

It was much better with the grip, I think the issue is I find the analogue nubs really awkward and the position of the buttons in proximity to the right analogue stick.
The main reason I got it was to remote play PS4, I tried AC IV last night and whilst looking fantastic I found it an absolute dog to control. I also really hate having to mimic the trigger buttons with that touch pad on the back. If I could use my DS4 controller and have the Vita as a screen I'd be happy.
I also found the PS1 emulation to stutter in places, I was just trying FF VII and it was very occasional but it did happen in some battles. The poor Wifi range really gets my goat, it is truly dreadful. I do feel like I should maybe give it a chance though and get a game I fancy like Persona on there. I'm sure my 3DS felt awkward at one point.
I really like RPG's and I think I should try a game like Persona/Murumasa or Y's and I might change my tune rather quickly.
