Plusnet Discussion Thread

God only know's what was wrong, I turned off the BT modem and our router for about 20/30 minutes and when I turned it all back on everything is fine again.

I already tried turning everything off and back on again :p but this time it worked... Must have been their end. Silly thing !

Yeah I've found the same thing, at least once every 24 hours for the last few days. Wouldn't mind up until now the service has been on par with BT

I'm having similar problems with twitch.tv and Amazon Prime Video. Disconnecting and reconnecting to get a new gateway seems to help a bit, it happens when a gateway become congested.

My internet and phone went down last night
Got email saying my phone is ready...
Do you get an email to say internet is ready to use?

I got a text a while back saying "up to 29th"
Does this mean I will be out the internet definitely today?

I don't think I ever got a message saying that the internet was ready since it was already live after the engineer did his work at the cabinet (this was well before the existence of the one hub and self installs for fibre), so hook everything up and if it's green across the board then it's live (however you've probably already done that now).

That's just the old price isn't it?

I'm still on the original £19.99/month 80/20 fibre only deal (line rental with BT rather than Plusnet). I also get £3.75/month knocked off for referrals, which is nice.

With the free for 6 month offer it works out around £10 a month over 18 month ;)

We just downgraded from Unlimited Extra to just Unlimited because we only really get 47/7 so it's not really worth paying the extra :)

Also we asked plusnet customer services if we can have 40/10 and they said give it a few weeks and if our upload isn't enough they will upgrade us to 10meg upload :D

It costs them a whole £6+VAT extra per year for 40/10 vs 40/2.

£6 per year is crazy! Makes you wonder where all that profit goes :( No wonder it takes so long to get through on the phone I bet they are all on holiday sunning it up!

Anyways, Today, This morning they have dropped our upload speed to 2mbps but our download speeds remain the same ;) We still get 45 to 50mbps.

Our IP Profile has not changed at all but after a few speed tests we are definitely on 2mbps upload.

For reference I try and always use the bt tester for speeds and to check the IP profile = http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/

Price has changed though ;) to the lower price and also the 6 months free appears to have stuck to our online billing. Let's hope it all stays good!

Anyone having problems with their connection? Today at some point mines gone mental and dropped significantly :( I usually get a steady connection but not today.

I've been lucky to get 10-15 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload :(

My normal connection is around this below, Which is acceptable ;) We are far from the exchange.

I've had a couple of times where my connection speed has plummeted but my sync speed hasn't changed, whenever it happens i just do a gateway hop by disconnecting the PPP session and reconnecting and it fixes it instantly.

This is usually caused by the gateway you are connected too becoming congested.

Line rental is £16.99 a month or £15.49 if you pay 12 months in a go. I think I'll be switching over to Plusnet over the weekend as my contract has run out with BT and they will be charging me £20 a month for just standard internet! It's time to upgrade to fiber :D

For people who have moved from standard broadband to fiber across companies, did you get any down time? Also I've seen people suggest other routers but is the plusnet supplied one that bad? I'm no power user and honestly just require the ability to access the internet wired & wireless in my house and that's it, been using BT own's black router box for a few years and never really had a problem.
