Plusnet Discussion Thread

Yes! I have double internet for no reason :D:D:D

Happy days, was previously on the 40/20 package. I started a download of ark on steam and couldnt understated why I was getting over 9MB/s lol.

The same information is available on their website (but only if you go looking).

Ignoring the price changes the only people affected appear to be those still on the old 38/19 product.

If you don't like it:

  • Contact PlusNet and see if they'll do you deal
  • Change providers
  • Upgrade to the 76/19 product
The 38/19 offering was always a bit odd. AFIAK it was never offered by Openreach as an option.

If they're going to offer 52/9 alongside or in place of the existing 38/2 product that's going to be an improvement.

Have also received this letter, I am close to the end of my 18 month contract, do you think it would be worth it to call them to see if they will do a deal? Are there any other providers that people are happy with? I just haven't got the time to do a lot of research these days so a bit of help would be appreciated. I have been happy with the service, but not sure if I am getting a decent deal these days.

And my 80/20 newly upgraded internet connection just keeps getting worse. Constant disconnects tonight and getting this speed below -

I am not happy, roll on Thursday for an open reach engineer to hopefully sort this out.

I have the equivalent of Unlimited Fibre Extra (broadband only) with PlusNet and I'm well out of contract.

I'm currently paying £19.99/month (ignoring referral credits).

I had a call today and was offered £17.99/month if I sign up for another 18 months. I was bit busy so I asked her to call be back next week.

I was just wondering if anyone had had better offers for broadband only?

I got the price increase email and i'm only on the 40/2 package (due to them changing the uploads silently a day or so before I signed up).

Slightly miffed that people on a 40/20 package are being moved to a 52/10 package and we're being left.

The email states that you can leave if you want but its a pain in the butt leaving. Everyone on the 40MB down packages should be moved to a 52MB down package imo.

BT have a good deal on atm for £10p/m and £18.99p/m line rental for their 52MB/10MB product. Might head over there too as you get £110 cashback through Quidco aswell.

Line rental going up to £17.99 soon if it hasn't been mentioned (probably a hundred times) and I usually pay up front for a years line rental to get ~£30 reduction on that. So any offer will help though as I'm 5 months from the end of the current contract I'll go back to monthly and play them against each then for the best deal.

I did notice that BT Infinity 4 was available on my line with up to 300mpbs. I didn't see the option to switch to a similar package on Plusnet when I checked my account this morning. No need for that currently but I guess it's good to have options.

I always wind one of my mates up as he lives directly opposite the main exchange in the town center and yet he still can't get above 8mbps broadband! I'm 2.5km away.

I cancelled my Plusnet service yesterday as I'm moving house next month and was looking for a better deal.
I was paying £31.98 all in for Unlimited Fibre Extra and was offered the same service at £32.98 to stay for an another 2 years.

I had every intention of joining SSE with their current £21 deal for Ultrafast and line rental but after waiting on hold for 17 minutes and not getting to speak to anyone, I changed my mind.
I'll probably see whats available nearer the time on Uswitch who seem to offer some good deals.

I was tempted by the SSE deal too but awful reviews of slowdowns in the evenings due to over subscription.
I went back to BT for a year on the 52mb package @ £10 a month for a year.

Yeah i just got the email, was already planning to leave as they won't let me have a package with more than 2meg upload, add to that the ongoing routing issues they have caused a bunch of us for the last week i will be calling them up tomorrow.

Been having some issues, connection, router. Then everything went dead.

We got a house phone but it's for emergency only and got a bill for £400. Kid's aint home so wasn't them. PN where great about it and due to the dead connection had someone come look. Was a proper BT person for a change and found someone has been messing about in the cab offering cheap/free calls by bypassing people lines in the cab.

PN have given us 12 months free, unlimited everything as a result

Well I was going to leave for the BT deal but PlusNet just offered me their 80/20 for what I was paying for 40/2 so I've gone with that. Saves me the faff of moving providers and what not and ive got a way better package!

Anyone know how long it takes for the change to activate and you get your new speed?

Been having real issues with Plusne the last few days, constant DNS issues, websites showing me as US based and just a poor connection overall.

Received the email about price increases so will use it an excuse to leave penalty free, looking around though all the deals seem to have got worse with prices higher and speeds lower than a few years ago.

Are BT struggling with the demand or something because the new 2Mb upload packages are just ridiculous.
