Plusnet Discussion Thread

If the Cabinet is full, it will show from available to waiting list via BTw dsl checker online (address only)
I know that. I was asking where that person had obtained their information.

Unfortunately there have been several posts recently (such as the one a few up) where people have misunderstood what CodeLook over at telecom-tariffs.co.uk is telling them. They're left with the impression that their cabinet is full when it probably isn't.

I applied for cashback via Quidco £40. It's still processing nearly a month later.

From experience it does take awhile, 8-10 weeks I think. Mine was double that which is even more annoying. It was due to be my most expensive cashback to date and just my luck it has failed to register. I'm not sure whether fault lies with PN or the cashback provider to chase this up more. Was one of the main appeals of joining PN again.

@Simps @maj if you go on the Quidco my activity page, click the + next to the payment and it tells you when payment is estimated to be payable.

I moved to PlusNet again on 1st August, Quidco says this, so it's about 2 months to be payable.

We estimate your Cashback will be available by 04 October 2018

Yes mine failed too. I had to go through the claims on quidco.

@Sparx Mine still says this... Status update 09 Aug 18... Claim processing.

I've just checked my bill for the first time in long time and its £40 pcm for an unlimited fibre package which isn't overlay fast (about 50 Mb's). As soon as there are some decent 5G unlimited packages (i'm guessing two years from now?) I'm done with paying BT £19 a month the use of their hybrid line.

Over a month to send it through, that's mad. :(

Check the reviews on Quidco, loads saying they haven't had the cashback even after complaining.
Yes I saw those. Oh well it's something for nothing so it's not the end of the world if I don't get it. Already saving £18 a month after switching from BT :D

Mine was with topcashback and worth £80. At the moment I'm being told I'm not even getting a penny of it.

I went with topcashback somewhere at end of July, just checked and it's already payable on mine (£85). Maybe they had an issue when you guys did it :(

That's shocking Signed up to Plusnet nearly a year ago and got the cashback from TopCashback with no issues.

I know. Apparently they can't trace my order (I don't know if this is PN or TCB). I'm wondering if it's because my VPN was on which meant my transaction couldn't be logged.

I have a vanilla Chromium install on my main PC, which I use whenever I want to go through a cashback site. I've learned that any kind of VPN, ad blocker, JavaScript blocker, etc. will surely mess with it so using my main browser is a no-no.

Yeah makes sense. I've turned it off auto-connect now since this all happened and only use it for geo-locating. Sadly it's probably too late to get any sort of money back. Only comfort is that I'm paying less than I was with BT.

I'm thinking of going to PN from Virgin.

I've got a PN supplied HG612 from a previous property along with Asus router.

Anyone know if the HG612 would work as is or would I have to flash a basic firmware?

It'll work with the default firmware. The only reason you'd reflash it is to gain access to the line stats via the second Ethernet port.

I assume you're wanting to use your own router rather than the one Plusnet will supply?

Great. Yes, 2 or three years ago PN didn't ask for their hardware back.
I've got an Asus router which worked well with PN before.

I'm thinking of switching from Virgin to Plusnet, I also have an Asus AC68u router which I would want to use, I also have my old BT Infinity modem from when we used to have that, will I just use that?

What needs to be configured my end regards the BT modem and plusnet?
