Plusnet Discussion Thread

would people still recommend plusnet for fibre ? I'm getting pretty cheesed off with my isp so thinking of moving to fibre and would like a decent isp

Mine is with plusnet fibre unlimited upgrade from ADSL2+ (install date next week Thursday 13th Feb) even thought I been with plusnet since 2009 with ADSL then ADSL2+ (always rock solid) I only had about 3 or 4 times downtime in the last 5 years!

Anyone moved from Sky >> Plusnet?

I can pay the same prices and get twice the speed is all I'm thinking, I'm just concerned about a painful migration although as the BTO box is there now that shouldn't be the case really

Just finished migrating this morning from Sky to Plusnet! Couldn't be more happier.

Was with Sky on their ADSL2 LLU network getting a measly 5mb down and 0.8mb upload. My local cab went live for FTTC 2 weeks ago, signed up to Plusnet and live date was today.

When I woke up this morning 7am the phone line and broadband was dead but by 9am I had a dial tone again on my phone. Come 10am I had BT Openreach knocking at the door. 10:20am he was walking out and I now have an awesome 62mb down and 18mb up.

Lovely stuff! :D

I'm after a more recent answer to this question..

Does having the Pro Addon have any affect to the FTTC packages with Plusnet?

Looking to move my BB from O2 (now sky) and phone from BT to PN; moving BB I've done before, but what about phone? is there anything like a MAC? and I assume I get to keep my number (a must)?

Well - its a been a while; months since I've been on so please be gentle ;)

You don't need mac for your phone line just let PN know when you order BB and they will take care of things for you.

Signed up to PlusNet but haven't decided to opt for Fibre yet. the £2.50 p/m offer was too good to turn down, especially when I am right near my exchange.

Can't wait for mine. My fibre install date is this Thursday, 13th February. Two more days to go left ;) ;) Fibre Unlimited with Plusnet (using my own hardware Netgear DGND3700v2)

Mine is due saturday, router has been posted today. Been told not to plug it in until they give me the go ahead. Surely I will be able to set it up to my liking just not connect it to the phone line?

I peak at 67 Mb/s so I'm happy! I'm about 350-400m away from my local cab following the road.

With Plusnet all you have to do after installation is simply connect the router to the socket. It will be "automagically" set up using TR69, you don't have to do anything else. They probably don't want the typical user playing with the router before installation to avoid tech support problems.

Only thing I will be changing will be assigning static IP's to devices connected and opening ports for my PS4.

Personally I'd just leave the router alone until the engineer has completed the install and you've plugged it in the first time so that Plusnet can remotely set it up. If you do have a problem immediately after installation it's going to be harder getting tech support to solve it if you've not followed their instructions.
