Hi guys, I think I'm going to go with plusnet as I'm moving house soon. I do not own a router at the moment, is the one supplied any good? Or should I look at getting my own.

It does come with a router its a FTTC 18 month contract, the router itself, put it this way, it does its job, wifi is not great, thats why i'm using a asus RT-N66U.
I get very good speed from plusnet, but i have good wiring to the cabinet just down the road, to get better speeds than i have now i need to be sitting on the cabinet.

Thanks, I think I'll stick with the plusnet router for now and get a better one later on.

I used to get disconnects with the Plusnet router and would have to wait 10 minutes befoe being able to connect again through the BT modem. Started to happen more and more often. Hope you don't have the same issue @ oL

Made up of what? Netflix, online backup, newsgroups?
The huge majority is identified as streaming. I'm "guessing" it's due to twitch.tv. A relative here is essentially watching gaming material the whole day... while gaming. I'm still surprised by the usage total. I used to struggle to get over 20GB.

Seems like a good deal for Fibre extra 18months with the special offer and £100 cashback with Quicdo?

Such a good deal that, despite the fact that we've already paid for BT's Line Rental Saver (have 5 months remaining), we're still switching now as it is actually cheaper than waiting until December, and we get a great connection (as opposed to the horrible 2-down/0.6-up that we have now). Live close to the cabinet too, so should get close to the full advertised speeds!

Yeah today is the final day for the £100 cashback so had to get it done lol Goodbye Vivaciti been brilliant last few years but time for more speed :D

I didn't think you can get Quidco and an offer from Plusnet - just one or the other?

Not sure either way I'm not sticking around with under 10kb/s p2p throttling anymore!

EDIT: is anyone using a Billion 7800N Router with Plusnet? This is what I have now but also have Plusnets router coming too

Doesn't say anything like that in the T&Cs on Quidco's site, and it'd be a bit strange to introduce a limited-time cashback deal like this that nobody can obtain. Haven't read any complaints stating as such from previous deals either. So it looks all good here :)

Just spoke to Plusnet customer service as their password recovery wasn't working. Must say that the customer service so far has been very good indeed, hopefully the connection will be great too (though frankly I don't think it can get worse here!).

Openreach chap came this morning to get my connection up and running. Here's a before and after, same day:

"Slight" speed bump as you can see :)

Nice to have a connection where I don't need to run QoS!

How is the plusnet modem for gaming? We have an xbox 360, xbox one and ps4 in the same house. Will I forever be faffing about trying to get an open NAT?

My installation is tomorrow, is there anything extra I should ask the engineer while he's here?

Anyone know what he'll do? The line is already in place as the previous homeowners had Sky Fibre.

TIA.

EDIT - All installed today, he replaced the old face plate with the mk2 version. He got a confirmation text with 80/20 speed. Cush.

Total job 50 Mins.
