Pokemon GO! (2016)

The max Cp is correlated to you character level, so you may have a 300cp Pigeot for example that's maxed out at level 9 but as soon as you level up to 10 you'll be able to power it up more.

Thanks mate, was difficult question too frame glad someone understood. Hit Lv8 today, some of the local gyms around work have people up to Lv15 so be a bit before I take them over haha.

One thing I dont understand about the gyms is what happens when the game has been out a while and everyone is a high level?

You have to have a good enough Pokemon to take it over, so how do the lower levels get their Pokemon in?

Do you only defend the gyms for so long?

Gyms I think are end game content because it gives currency. I think the idea is only the few at the top should be able to get in and get free currency while everyone else is forced to pay.

You can either find a gym(of your team) that has a spare slot, level the gym(of your team) up by battling it constantly and get the next slot, find an empty gym(not much chance now) or battle another teams gym till it loses all reputation and you can take it over(getting harder all the time).

Really need a few friends to battle the gyms down to no rep and take them over.

Yeah, it seems easy at the moment because people haven't got massively high level Pokemon. Think I've got Pokemon in 3 gyms at the moment. Once the game has been out for a while, surely everyone is going to have ridiculously high Pokemon and just stay there?

As with Ingress a single high ranked player can't own all of a Gym. There are 6 slots but you can only put 1 Pokemon on a Gym, so there should be space for lower ranked people to tag along.

Has anyone used any of their stardust yet? It's the classic 'don't want to use up my boosts too early, but should use them at somepoint' dilemma.

Would be disappointing to use a load of stardust powering up your top CP pokemon then catch something stronger right after, but then you have to use it sometime.

Thoughts?

So a 'good' Pokemon would be one with a higher CP but lower on the white bar then...?

*Edit* - Eg: Two Hypno, both with 100CP, one has 50% of the bar filled and the other has 30% filled. The one with 30% is better, as it has a higher max CP....right...?

My understanding is the bar scales with your char, so if your Lv5 a 200CP might be max but at Lv10 it will be half way. I'm going to test as I level up, I've taken a few screenshots for before/after.

Ive used a fair bit levelling/evolving my top 6 pokemon so ive got a decent squad, you get stardust when you catch any pokemon (and there are lots of low level ones to catch that you can just transfer if its a duplicate) and you can use it on any pokemon, it's the candy that will hold you back I think as its species specific..

Or that's the tactic i've taken to.

EDIT, but also now my trainer has leveled ive caught some pokemon powerfull enough to go straight into my top 6, so I suppose it pays to keep some dust in reserve?

No, the mechanics aren't known about this but there's something to do with height/weight of the pokemon involved.

The height & weight determines the CP & HP. XS will have more CP but less HP and vice-versa for XL.

So, if we're talking about two Hypno, both XS height & weight, both with 100CP, then the better one would be the one with the lower CP bar, I would have thought, as it has a higher max CP. Unless that's not RNGd and their progress round the bar would be the same....which seems kinda pointless to me.

Lesson of the day.. Go out, collect everything you can for the day, come home and then fire up a lucky egg, evolve everything that is cheap that you can, and then transfer all but you 'good stuff', I jumped from just hitting level 11, to almost mid 13 that way.

Interestingly, my tablet performs a lot better than my phone, but has no gps, so is useless for walking around, but running it at home, the 'location' drifts, so my eggs hatch without me going anywhere, and of course the odd pokemon pops up for me to snag while I do other things. Like recharge my phone. So glad that my ravpower power bank arrived this morning.. Tomorrow I plan to set myself up at the lion (Nottingham folk know the spot) where I can stand between 4 stops, throw down a lure, drop an insence, and watch the people flock to me.. found it funny today watching a group of people walking by shouting "buncha nerds.."
