Pokemon GO! (2016)

Niantic is still relatively small.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niantic,_Inc.

I'm sure Nintendo and the Pokemon Company would be looking to try and pump in money for more equity.

Google must be kicking themselves. The people that got equity when it was spun out will probably end up very rich.

It's still heavily related to Google - they are the main investors in the company, Google provide some of the technology and infrastructure behind the company... you can rest assured Google will be making a crap ton from it too!

My closest PokeStop is roughly 1 mile from my house and the closest gym is also 1 mile away. Those 2 are the only things I can see on the map around my house.

So i just started using my iPad Air (Wifi only model) to play the game since it runs it better than my iPhone 5 so far.

Question, Am i suppose to get GGPS signal not found when i'm connected to a 5GHz Wifi network which is cherning 80 meg into is? It randomly comes up with the message for a minute, then disappears and a pokemon appears normally like it does on my iPhone (When it loads the app -_-)

Cheers.

Happens on my android phone too. I can only surmise that gps is being dynamically switched on and off, and this app has a very small window between asking for gps and reporting it can't find it.

Two questions -

1. How quickly do gyms lose prestige? Is there a fixed number per pokemon defeat (if I beat them)? I wasnt to know how many times I'd have to fight one.

2. Does the incubator distance tracking if I turn my screen off/auto-turn off/or use another application? I.e. does it keep running in the background or do I need the screen on ALL the time.

Dunno the answer to number 1, but to answer number 2, the distance tracking only works when you have the app open and the screen on. And you cant drive to get the distance as the tracker cuts off over certain speeds.

in that case, I saw that if you do turn battery save on in the game options, it dims the screen/turn off automatically in game if you turn your phone upside down but does keep tracking.https://support.pokemongo.nianticlabs.com/hc/en-us/articles/221958288-Settings

Not sure exactly but it's way too quick. If you take all the Pokemon it's usually something like 2-3000. Compare that to training when you get a couple hundred each time, it makes it completely pointless to try and defend a gym in real time.

The best thing to do when someone is attacking your gym and you are nearby is wait until it's vacated and stick your Pokemon back in before they can heal and deposit theirs :D

3km and not a single Pokemon, is this not tall grass!? :D

It's a shame that you really only get Pokemon in urban areas. It is a missed opportunity to get kids out into the countryside.

Water is a good bet though. I had a Dratini and a Polywhirl pop by the canal miles from anywhere yesterday whilst walking the dog.

ANother question:

WHen does a pokemon at a gym get returned to his owner? Is it as soon as the pokemon gets defeated, or is it only if prestige goes down to zero and gym is lost?

I am presuming the latter? So if I fight a gym, beat the first 3 pokemon, then lose, then fight again, are the first 3 pokemon still there (at full hp)? Or woudl they have gone?

It depends on the prestige, the amount of prestige determines the maximum amount of pokemon allowed in the gym. So if the gym as attacked, it loses a chunk of prestige depending on how many they beat. So for example a gym has 2 pokemon, but the prestige drops to under 2000, then the weakest one gets kicked out and returned to the owner.

As far as I noticed prestige goes like this:
Lv 1 gym: <2000 = 1 pokemon
Lv 2 gym: 2000-4000 = 2 pokemon
Lv 3 gym: 4000-8000 = 3 pokemon
etc.

Prestige doesn't seem to decay over time from what I've noticed. You can build up the prestige to reach the next gym level/open another slot if the gym is in the same team as you, but you seem to add a lot less prestige if your pokemon is vastly stronger than the gym's.
