Pokemon GO! (2016)

It's a fair point re battles, the gym near mine has a 1.2k somethings or other guarding, I'm never having any pvp fun then :p

Its worth attacking even if they're quite a bit higher than you as you get to attack with 6 Pokemon, so you have a chance to defeat at least one of them. I'm not sure about something quite that high, but I was surprised at how easy it was when I first tried, plus with the gyms near me changing hands often they are usually low level. So what I'm saying is don't be completely put off, give it a try and see what happens (if the game ever works again)

Server issues tonight supposedly a combination of Canadian release and simultaneous DDoS attacks. 43m people attempting to login at one point apparently lol

Gym near me is guarded by cp 1200
My highest is cp175

The gap is only going to get bigger too and thats the issue

The game boy games had more static opponents.
This game will see a larger gulf develop

As you can only really do stuff at gyms, and you've caught all the local pokemon, the game becomes a chore.

I absolutely adore pokemon, but don't see this lasting at anywhere near the level it's at now without a revamp

I even wondered if my network was blocking the game, Internet was quick (ie speed test) but just endless pokemon go problems

Yeah I'm betting its something like this, wifi it loads up and works fine most of the time, I cant get it to work at all out and about.

But its not like Pokemon Go even uses that much data.

Thats exactly the problem with this game. That and the combat system is terrible. There needs to be a way to increase the CP of a pokemon without having to catch more of the same.

I just had a stab at taking one of the local gyms, did a pretty good job at taking out the first few 'mons till this 1200cp flareon turned up at the end. The battle system is so broken, I watched a few tutorials on youtube, and was dodging fine, untill the lag set in.

I saw the "flareon used flamethrower", so I dodged, the attack animation was nowhere near my seaking, absolutely miles away. Yet I still take damage. Then to top it off, I managed to get them down to what appeared to be 0 HP, and they absolutely refused to faint. I lost another 3 pokemon hitting a 0 HP flareon that wouldn't faint. Eventually it downed me so I gave up and walked home.

This game can stay on hold untill the combat system changes I think.

AN hour out in town tonight...still very buggy lost over half my captures purely due to freezing on teh pokeball screen. Grrr! Missed out on a few new ones, but at least I now know where to find them.

Caught enough Pidgeys to upgrade by Pidgeot to CP447 and will be able to upgrade a Pidgeotto (spawn point not far from home) to a second Pidgeot tomorrow hopefully, if the bloody thing works.

Noticed an oddity in my Pokemon list. I have a Drowzee at CP161(38HP) and one at CP160(40HP). I have my list sorted by order of HP yet the former appears before the latter.

Caught a Weedle, called it Caterpie, caught a few Pidgeys, called them Spearow, caught a Spearow, called it Pidgey :D

Gotta do similar thing to this with all of them now... :(

I was able to defeat a local Yellow gym, despite having half the level of CP that was defending it, as has been said you get to choose 6. I think maybe it actually took 12. But then it was instantly taken by Blue? (I'm Red). How does that work? Someone in a nearby house just took it right away?

Pretty much. You can see on the map if a nearby gym has a battle on.

I took one the other day and someone on the same team ninja looted it before I could put a pokemon in it!

Best to attempt to take a gym or three quickly then cash them in. :)

I've hardly been able to use it over the weekend, still getting server messages, when I can get on it freezes after aa few mins, so I reboot and then get server busy messages :(

Well my weekend experience has been less than exciting. Saturday and Sunday saw connectivity issues with logging in and the game bugging out when catching. Must have walked 20-25km this weekend, which my feet are now complaining about.

However, it was successful. My 10k Egg was a Pincer and my a few of my 5K eggs were:

1 - Vulipx
2 - GeoDude
3 - Exeggcute

Considering I started on Friday and I'm currently level 13, I don't think I've done too badly. Had it not been for the issue with the servers I could have gone up another level. I'm also on a mission for MagiKarp but have a long way to go. My best so far is a Pidgeot at 779cp followed by a 340 Jynx.

Not sure if you've seen this link, but its a good one for checking server status..

This hasn't worked for days, fails to login to account.

Not that it matters, beyond catching Pokemon I won't be doing anything else, the Gyms are to far away.

Plus there all in pubs, who goes to a pub to play mobile games? that's just rude and a bit weird.

I can see why lots of people enjoy the game, it's just not for me. AS a Pokémon game, it's sub-par. It just makes me want to play an actual Pokémon game. The idea is great and i commend them for their efforts. I'm sure it'll kick off a load of other games as well.

The app itself is buggy, keeps crashing (on iOS at least), uses up the battery bigtime and sometimes won't even load up and gives server errors. It's also made people act ******* stupidly, almost running into junctions etc. I can't fault the game for that, it's just the stupid being stupid.

I'm going back to Pokémon Silver.

I had a good spell this morning, I had left my car st work Friday as I went on the booze. Anyhow that meant I got the metro in plus walked about 3.5km.

Checked into 8 pokestops on the metro line and a few cultural sites, managed to catch a Grimer/Goldeen and Shelder and just failed at catching a Ghastly. Also caught a few more Weedrils to get a Beedril.

Was actually good fun being able to play :p
