Pokemon GO! (2016)

Welp I just upgraded my item/pokemon storage now they took down pokevision and remove tracking :(

Should have used the £8 to buy a mcdonalds meal or something

Some things not listed in the patch notes:

No more bonus EXP for great/excellent throws.

Scan radius was changed from 100m to 70m (51% reduction in scan area :()

Imo I can see why they took down Poketracker. Although it is "fun" to be able to scout out and hunt down specific Pokemon before the timer runs out, it doesn't exactly line up with the typical Pokemon formula. Though they really should have fixed the 3-step bug first instead of just shooting down everything in one go. Now there's no alternative available.

Also, surely most of the things this app does can be done in a standby state (GPS/Data/Notifications) while the screen is turned off/phone locked? I guess the next best solution right now is having battery saving mode + change phones's screen dimming time settings, but still...

Anyone else only ever get 5km eggs. I can't remember the last time I got a 2km or 10km egg??

Yeah I'd say the vast majority of mine are 5k, did finally get another 10k the other day though. Though the last four or five 5k eggs I've hatched have all had stuff I needed so I'm not complaining at the moment.

Talking of eggs, always bugs me that it doesn't appear to actually track how far I walk but have never really checked properly. Just used google maps to see how far I walked this morning. 2.5k apparently, however according to the app I walked 1.3k...

Probably like this so they can try to get people to buy the wearable device when its out...

One minute everyone says poke vision is cheating now it's shut down everyone's crying.. Can't win, battery saver mode is in my update on Android also that's still there which is good text improvements are good. I don't mind about poke vision etc so long as the footsteps work personally there does need to be something in place to give us a clue.

I saw very few people complaining about pokevision tbh (and I've saw lots complaining about botters/spoofers, so it's not just that no one cares about cheating), most people were fine with it because Niantic removed what should be a core feature.

:(. I decided I wasn't going to spend anything on the game when I realised (I didn't play Ingress, so didn't know this previously) that Niantic don't communicate with the community about stuff at all.

Yeah, the tracking is dumb, the app just tells the server where you are every 4 minutes or something and then the server works out the straight line distance between where you are now and where you were last time.

I've walked about 200km according to the app, that's probably more like 400km in actual distance, could have got rid of all 9 5km eggs in my inventory if it tracked properly :(.

Glad to see the pokevision down... . If I was still playing it.
Unfortunately fixes are too slow, changes to app seem negative.
The core of the game doesn't support longevity.

Think it's now far too late to be salvaged for Niantic.

Said it too many times but needed better type advantages (to stop people being able to win with an army of snorlaxes) moves to be 'found' in the wild, or learnt at level up
More of a personal reward for gym holding/winning.
Inability to capture tier 3 pokemon in the wild
Battles with people not just at gyms
Pokemon having their own levels not tied to your level

The real nail in coffin was figuring out cp and dps meant everything. Hence snorlax dominates. Where in games a well trained machamp could beat it easy due to type advantages

May just be my attachment to the games, but pokemon learning new moves and being able to tailor them meant so many more options.

In this game, you only need a few to dominate battles, but battles don't mean much.
It's a waste of time evolving as it takes so much work and the outcome might be cack
Then you could just catch that one anyway (gyarydos for example)

Shame.
Pokemon probably is my favourite game of all time

According to their Twitter Pokevision have been told to stop. This game will begin to get boring quickly. We can't all sit on our phone all the time just for the off chance of a certain Pokemon appearing.

Or alternatively just get a shopping list and go to the exact area, at the exact time to get what you want then stop playing anyway.

Poke vision and the rest is built for today's lazy gamers who want to skip the point of the game, finish asap and then whinge on the net about how boring it is.

Death of poke vision is a great thing, just a shame they have killed off the in game tracker as you now can't zero in on anything just have to aimlessly wander and hope.

Phew! I'm worn out! Just back from a trip to the nearby towns ferry port, which is a hot bed for water pokemon (which I only knew about due to PokeVision... R.I.P)

There are 3 pokestops and a gym all extremely close to each other and when I got there, 2 of the pokestops had lures down. Weirdly though I couldn't see anyone playing. I got a lot of pokemon while I was there. Numerous magikarp, poliwags, psyducks, goldeens, a few staryu's, and a bunch of other types like sandshrews, ekans, ponytas, male and female nirodrans, etc. Even got some new additions for the pokedex: Geodude, magnemites, a magneton!, an exeggutor!!, an omantye!! (though only CP15..) and not 1, not 2....

THREE CHARMANDERS!!! Highest CP one was 262, not bad for a starter. I now just need Pikachu to complete the starter set :D Also went from the start of level 15 to level 16! That's 20K exp earned.

GJ!

I got 2 charmander, 2 squirtles, omanyte and a slowpoke which were all new on a trip to the beach with the family. Also saw a Kabuto but he done a runner :(

Glad they rebalanced attacks, things much more equal now.
What is annoying is all Pokemon are now really difficult to catch. No doubt to make us pay for balls :/

I noticed that too. They are a lot harder to catch. I was actually struggling not to run out of pokeballs. Not a great feature. Should be 2/3 balls max to catch one. When you are at ball 10 you know they have gone way too far.

I noticed that as well, thought I was just having a hard time.

I have no direct evidence but I seem to notice if the Pokemon is "aggressive" at the start, ie the rattata barks at you, the Weedle glares, they seem to be the ones who escape from pokeballs. Anyone boticed something similar? Going to look out for it more going forward.

Went to Holland Park for a couple of hours but from the sound of other players Bulbasaur was not spawning as often as it usually does. Managed to get enough for an Ivysaur though before I left.

I noticed the update finally fixed the map issues as well, when Google updated maps all pedestrian paths were missing, but 0.31 seems to have brought them back, meaning I don't need to worry about getting lost in big parks any more :p.
