Pokemon GO! (2016)

Definitely harder to catch the same Pokemon now and also definitely no points for special catches (very annoying)

I've just got a Pokemon 10mins ago and got the credit for a nice throw

Not only not fix it, but destroy the work of someone who tried to fix it for you.

Pokevision was not a creation to help players because the tracker was broken, be honest. It was a tool to help people find what they needed with minimum effort involved.

Hmmm. I will double check next time I manage to get one. Just to be clear, I still see the words (nice, great, excellent) appear when throwing the ball, but no XP bonus on the summary screen. In effect every single pokemon is now 100XP per catch, for me. Haven't seen a curveball bonus either, but I don't get many of those anyway.

I'm sorry but I don't agree. How was it minimum effort? Even if you knew exactly where a pokemon was, you still had to get off your butt and go get it. Its only people who were combining it with the area spoofing hacks that were truly defeating the point of the game. For a normal player, knowing a snorlax spawned like 50 miles away with an 8 minute window before it despawns wouldn't exactly help you, would it? And unless you were sitting scanning the immediately area around you 24 hours a day, odds are you'd still miss a lot of good spawns anyway.

It helped the game, it didn't ruin it. The game is now much harder without any means of tracking pokemon beyond total guess work.

I agree that the in game tracker should be fixed not removed 110% but using your example of Snorlax spawning in X place at X time it does defeat the purpose as you are going to a spot to collect and move on. Perhaps I'm in the minority and that's fine but IMO the point of the game is to get and explore and see what you find, not descend on X spot as you know what will be there in advance. That to me is people just out there to collect and complete and move on, not get in the spirit of the game. The immense "OMFG" feeling I had on seeing a Mr Mime randomly when out wondering will not be there if I go to a location knowing what I'm getting.

Just my opinion and I accept I'm in the minority though.

Actually you are right, I always curveball and get "nice" throws, I chucked straight just there to test it with a "nice" throw but got no credit. So no nice credit, but you get curve credit still.

Btw my house just delivered again, a freaking Electrabuzz, this is weird :p

I agree with you
The tracker in game should maybe even be more capable (wider radius) so you don't walk around a completely dead area). But looking to see when pokemon X is out, going out, catching it, going back.. No challenge in that

Really wanted to get to lvl 20 tonight, so went for a run at 9pm! Hatched 2 eggs, caught a few pokemons, including a Weezing (new to me) in the most random place (which seems a spawn point for unusual pokemons in fact), and my highest CP eevee (530ish).

Was tempted to evolve 40 pokemons with the lucky egg I got, but think I'll hold out for a few more. Going for a long walk tomorrow with a couple of friends in SOuthampton, which should be good. Sam Clark's gaming cafe/community have organised a mass pokewalk in the city, so we will probably tag along.

If time allows, I will drive to Calshot too; nothing but great pokemons there I keep reading. No one has come back disappointed from there.

Getting the hang of gyms battles better now. A lot of my highest pokemons have had moves strengthened in the penultimate update.

Excellent day. Bumped into the Pokewalk, caught a level 444 charmander. ANd my god, Calshott is amazing for unusual pokemons! I did of the activities area 3 times, and caught such good stuff - not high, just new to me.

USed lucky egg + 47 evolutions tonight, with 3 minutes to spare. Rainer now my highest at 1500approx (came from a eevee of lvl550 or something). currently i am level 21.5.

REady to tackle a few gyms now.

I respect your opinion and I can totally see where your coming from. Stumbling on a rare pokemon while out walking is definitely a good feeling and having the site pinpoint the location for you can definitely rob you of that feeling of satisfaction. But for a lot of us in rural or quiet areas with limited spawns, it was a very beneficial crutch to lean on while the ingame tracker was broken.

I was more excited when I saw something on Pokevision and went running for it before it despawned than I was earlier when I randomly came across a new pokemon.

Besides, when you're at over 100 pokemon found just randomly walking around is incredibly boring, you basically never see anything new on the nearby list and almost as rarely see stuff that you need candies for to evolve. Pretty much the only time I find new stuff is from pokevision, and I've walked over 200km according to the app (which doesn't count like half your movement :().

I'm probably just gonna risk a ban and use the pokemon map thing on github and hope they don't ban by IP address if they ever ban for that. If they do ban for it then it doesn't really matter, since the game is only fun when you can actually hunt for pokemon

See, I kinda see it the opposite way. If I randomly happen upon a rare Pokemon while out walking, nice, but it doesn't feel like I achieved anything. It's no better than having them pop out of an egg. If I see a Pokemon on a tracker and I get to it before the spawn timer ends, then it does feel like an achievement.

A couple of events this weekend that wouldn't have happened without Pokevision (and the like):

1) On Friday, someone in my office noticed Snorlax show up on a tracker. Cue over 20 people leaving the office in the middle of the afternoon to try and get to him before he left.

2) At 1:30am while a bit drunk, I noticed Magmar on Pokevision about 200m away. I ran out of the flat to catch him.

Those events are things that I'll remember for a while, and I have a story behind catching them (or not, in Snorlax's case ). I honestly don't remember where or when I got Clefairy, or Abra for example, two that I found just randomly without looking for them in amongst hundreds of others.

Lol, just after posting my comment, I read yours and then switched to my own map (it's a bit hit and miss so I don't use it much). Was very surprised to see a Porygon had appeared just round the corner from my flat with 8 minutes on the counter! Another mad dash outside with the lady so we could both catch it.

That's another catch that I'll remember for a while to come. I just don't get the same excitement from one randomly spawning in front of me while out and about.

Fair enough, each to their own :)

Went to Holland Park for a couple of hours but from the sound of other players Bulbasaur was not spawning as often as it usually does. Managed to get enough for an Ivysaur though before I left.
Did the exact same thing myself earlier. Holland Park seems to be a haven for them, and there were lures galore. In the hour or so I was there, I got 5 Bulbasaurs (amongst dozens of other things). Not quite enough to evolve (I had yet to see any before today), but not far off it. I'll be back there next weekend.
