Pokemon GO! (2016)

Got a Charmander at lunch from a 2k egg. Sorted. I went out round work campus chasing a bloody pikachu but the swine couldn't be found.
I wish they made tracking a bit easier!

Yeah another bad point for me was when I saw someone roaming around the USA with GPS spoof catching a dragonite.
Obviously with pokevision this was easy.

The gyms will be unbeatable for anyone starting not.

I've never understood the desire to cheat/bot.
It's supposed to be a game. I never can understand what satisfaction a person gets from using bots?

Open question.. Those who use bots.. Doesn't it take any achievement out of the equation? And therefore why player?

Easy question.

Am I right in thinking that when fighting, it is the attack type that benefits from the attack bonus (1.2x) as opposed from the pokemon type?

So a Hypno attacking a Hypno with psychic attack won't do much damage but will do more damage with a ghost attack?

I don't particularly see the achievement in randomly bumping into a high CP/rare Pokemon... If it took some kind of skill to find them, maybe.

I bot'd overnight two nights ago, but only really because I'm done with the game. If I got banned, I really wouldn't be bothered, but it was nice to be able to evolve a load of stuff I'd previously caught.

Yeah attack type.

Woop. What was a mundane lunchtime walk catching the usual crud paid off as my 10km egg hatched a 570CP eevee, which I subsequently evolved into a jolteon intentionally. It was IV-rated at 44-82. I powered it up and it ended up at 82%, which I am very pleased with. It also has the highest DPS attack moves. :D

I can now challenge the gyms with water pokemons!! In fact, I stuggled to take down one before I went on my walk, because I only had a 500cp electabuzz as my best electric pokemon to date.

Does the tracker at the bottom right work? If always seems to be inaccurate for me.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is still bugged.

Well, I caught 3 Weedles and a Venonat this lunchtime! 40Cp Weedle broke out 4 times!

Boosted a local gym up a level and placed my Pokemon in it. So that's my achievement for the day.

I had a quick glance at that bot stuff, it seems to suggest you have to put in your account details. What's to stop them ripping off your account?

I have no intent to not because why even bother there's no end game so you are literally removing any point to the game by botting but I cud the whole thing a little confusing.

How do you find the rating to be 82% and do you boost before evolving to find out or after?

Best way to catch is curveballs, since I've sorted my curveball out (it's a lot more horizontal than vertical on the throw) I've found catching and escape has gone down dramatically. Last night I caught 23 Pokemon and only had 5 of them requiring more than 1 ball and 2 escapes.

IV rating:
In a nutshell, all pokemons of the same type/CP are not the same strength. SOme are better than others.

SUmmary and online evaluator.

If you want to get into the details, google reddit IV spreadsheet. There is a spreasheet you can enter your pokemon's stats, and it will tell you how close to 100% (perfect) they are.

I have a handful above 90% but in their unevolved form. My fully evolved ones are 70-75%, which although not great, is what I am (currently) settling on, unless I catch/hatch better ones.

Bear in mind, IV's are not all that. A worse IV-rated pokemon with better/higher attack stats could be overall better than a higher IV-rated pokemon with worse attack stats (DPS).

Is there any chance a mod could sticky some of the links about IV's attacks, catch rates, etc i.e. all the stuff people ask every few days? How do we get about doing that?

Strictly speaking, if your IV rating from the spreadsheet is vague e.g. 40-80%, you can boost it once or twice (should be enough) pre-evolving, which will refine the rating. That way you reduce risk of evolving a crud pokemon. Pokemons retain their IVs during evolution thankfully.

I took the gamble on mine, just evolved it without checking, because I was desperate for something exciting to happen i.e. new pokemon added to pokedex. That eevee was also the best of the three eevee's I had kept to date anyway, so chance of finding a better eevee is slim. I then boosted it a couple of times since evolving. It's sat around 1200CP atm.

So what's more important in a battle IV or CP am I better evolving my 70% eevee at 491cp or my 513 eevee at 60% as an example

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I think it will be the 491CP eevee, because you cannot improve IV, but you can improve CP (to an extent) using dust+candy and depending on your trainer level. In your case, a mere 2000 dust + 2 eevee candy will probably bump the 491cp eevee to above 513, and the IV will still be 70%!

Moves also matter; you could evolve both, and then boost the one with the better attack.
