Pokemon GO! (2016)

Caught a 713 Hypno with 2 pokeballs today. Also caught a machop (new one for the pokedex) that was hiding in my bedroom when I got home from work. Other than that hardly touched the game today.

150+ Butterfree took maybe 7 poke balls and 2 razz berries to catch, just kept on escaping. A 574cp jynx took 4 poke balls only.
The killer is a 450cp Wartortle took maybe 10 great balls and 6 razz berries to catch. Ridiculous it kept on escaping even though I was getting Nice or Great, was worried it was going to escape.

I've just started, well last week. Stupid game wasn't available in my app store for ages. Now I am so behind.

My way has such shocking pokemon. I'm all pidgey and rattata'd up!

Sucks that you can't find anything interesting, but pidgeys are great for levelling at least. Collect a load, use a lucky egg, and get evolving them all. :)

Catch rate frustrating me at the moment. As everyone has already said, seems so much harder work, and progress seems so slow. Can't even "farm" pidgeys, ratattas, etc at the rate I am actually catching them.

Level 21.5 at the moment, and can't see myself going any higher in the short term, so levelled up any high cp, fully evolved pokemons I had with IV+70% (Seaking, Vaporeon, Seaking, Golbat). That should allow me to beat some mid level gyms, earn 10-30coins every day, and buy extra incubators, with the hope good stuff will hatch.

Today; CP 45 Pidgey escaped from ball 5 times but I caught various CP 150+ in one ball. It seems bit random.

Wow. An actual update from Niantic:

Trainers,

We are excited to share a few more details with you regarding Pokémon GO:

- Central and South America - Break out the sneakers and Poké Balls, and get ready to explore the world around you. We are excited to officially be putting Pokémon GO in the hands of our Latin American fans, visitors, and the Olympic athletes in Rio!

- We have been hearing the feedback loud and clear about the removal of the Battery Saver mode on iOS devices. We had removed this feature as several users were experiencing it to be buggy, but we are fairly confident that a fix for this should roll out within the next several days.

- A few of our Legendary Pokémon had erroneously been granted to some Trainers. Thanks to the help of several of our Trainers, we were able to locate them and bring them home safely.

We have been working long hours to fix many other bugs and bring some exciting new features to Pokémon GO in the future. However, next up for us is the continued roll-out of Pokémon GO to more countries around the world.

As always, be safe, be nice to your fellow trainers, and keep on exploring.

What is IV and how do I find it out?

In a nutshell, all pokemons of the same type/CP are not the same strength. SOme are better than others.

SUmmary and online evaluator.

If you want to get into the details, google reddit IV spreadsheet. There is a spreasheet you can enter your pokemon's stats, and it will tell you how close to 100% (perfect) they are.

I have a handful above 90% but in their unevolved form. My fully evolved ones are 70-75%, which although not great, is what I am (currently) settling on, unless I catch/hatch better ones.

Bear in mind, IV's are not all that. A worse IV-rated pokemon with better/higher attack stats could be overall better than a higher IV-rated pokemon with worse attack stats (DPS).

Is there any chance a mod could sticky some of the links about IV's attacks, catch rates, etc i.e. all the stuff people ask every few days? How do we get about doing that?

If someone is going out of their way to cheat the game what are the chances they are just doing it to look at their own collection. The people that use these bots like to overpower a gym and hold them with all their other cheating mates.

Smashing gyms is easy, catch a bunch of Eevee's and Eeveelution them (is it a cheat if it's built in? IDKFA). It's a lot harder to hold a gym, revives are plentiful and mixed with a few super potions, you will have the gym down in no time with your own pokemon (Hypno isn't ranked highly but some reason I don't have the right combo to take him down effectively) on there to claim those precious 10 coins. Pokeassistant is excellent, has all the info you need so you don't waste your time (i.e don't evolve lemons unless it's pidgey/caterpie/weedle or something abundant like drowzee/zubat).

Smart Poke and Compass are no longer working, seems Niantic have closed the way the apps worked. Now you'll have to walk around aimlessly where I live hoping to get a decent Pokemon.

Yup, API has changed, expect those fully charged bots to come out in force! :D

Eurgh! Fingers crossed for updates to the maps so we can use them again.

On a plus side, I have had enough candies to evolve and Eevee for about a week but no good Eevee. I finally found one this morning and on evolve later equals a 1650 Vaporeon :D

What CP was the Eevee?

The feeling of achievement and progression is slowly ebbing away for me. I've seen just basic Pokemon for days now. The last exciting thing was a Voltorb which hatched from an egg two days ago. The last Pokemon which wasn't a Rattata, Pidget, Weedle, Bellsprout, Venonat or an Eevee which I've caught was a Nidoran 3 days ago. An they're not especially rare.

Impressive. So how have you achieved that? Many powerups? Been lucky with captures? Did you evolve any of those? What level are you?

I'm 20k away from level 25, and it's mainly been hatching and catching. I do 5-6km every work day, so am a bit of an incubator nut. Got lucky with my Lapras in an egg (the 1.9k one) and super lucky catching the other when at the London Pokemeet.

I've done the lucky egg mass evolve about 6 times, and have been blessed with 2 pokestops spinnable from inside my flat, and a work lunch time route that can do 14 pokestops about 6 times in a circuit. Usually hold 2 gyms, and claim 1 each morning for a 3 gym reward.

Dropped £60 on the game in total (still have 2k pokecoins to spend) as I am not funding Avengers Alliance 2 any more.

They made out that bots have been banned, but ingress was, how to put it, 2013 geeky? Not exactly the crowd that would attract mass cheaters. Pokemon Go however... with it's fantastic launch and absolutely unbiased approach to spawns and hotspots...

I happily spoof on my main account since my town sucks, and there is no chance I'm hanging around the wonderful area of my work after hours when dredges of society are more than happy to try and make off with colleagues motorcycles.

How would you even spoof?

Wow. I thought I was bad had spent a lot at £20 (£5 of which was Google Rewards)

Most of my iOS friends have claimed back (refunded) what they've spent. Has anyone tried this on Android?

Eevee was very low 600's, I want to guess 611.

The achievement and progression isn't an issue for me, I was walking around anyway so this just gives me something to do. It is more of a frustration issue as I regularly find a silhouette on my nearby and I can track it down to be the closest to me but have yet to actually find them nevermind catch them before they de-spawn.

How many Pokemon have you got in Pokedex? I am level 24, but 145k away from 25! I have enough coins from defending gyms to buy 2 eggs, which will get me an easy 60k or so, I think.

I walk a fair bit as well, but have just been unlucky in not having any good hatches! I'm currently hatching my 55th egg and every one has been 2k (mostly) or 5k (not as often).

I now have 104 caught and 106 seen. Haven't caught a new one for quite a while, just been evolving them.

106 caught / 107 seen (stupid Hitmonlee)

2 evolutions pending, and a few more magikarp away from a Gyarados, so soon to be 109 caught.
