Pokemon GO! (2016)

So what's more important in a battle IV or CP am I better evolving my 70% eevee at 491cp or my 513 eevee at 60% as an example

The higher CP will be better initially, but the pokemon that has the best IVs has a higher CP cap when you actually spend stardust to upgrade it.

CP is just a simpler version of the Attack/Defense/Stam stats, so higher CP=better, higher IVs=higher CP cap :).

Right I see.. Leaves up for debate whether or not I should wait and see if I find a better eevee though.

Currently the best pokemon I have is a 582 Kabuto rated 85% and I have enough to evolve him too..

I had a quick glance at that bot stuff, it seems to suggest you have to put in your account details. What's to stop them ripping off your account?

Not if you're using Google (on the one I tried anyway) it simply auth's like other things do. You don't give it details/passwords.

It looks like the recent update blocks bots anyway.

Yeah, you can still fake your GPS location, I don't think Niantec will ever be able to do anything about that unless they stop rooted phones from using it. That's not botting though.

It'd be interesting to see the sales of portable power banks since this game has been released - my mate just bought one purely for Pokemon :p

Dropped £60 on the game in total (still have 2k pokecoins to spend) as I am not funding Avengers Alliance 2 any more.

Wow. I thought I was bad had spent a lot at £20 (£5 of which was Google Rewards)

Most of my iOS friends have claimed back (refunded) what they've spent. Has anyone tried this on Android?

And there I am still deciding whether to spend £4. I guess I've done well getting to lvl 22 considering.

Yeah its really not much. I was going to buy some lucky eggs then I hit 20 and got a couple, I've just used the second of those today. Though it takes me several days to save up enough to evolve in one go so I could pretty much fund the eggs I need from gym rewards, the only other thing I'd be tempted to buy is incubators.

Surely they could spot people who seem to jump around quickly between locations and at large distances and ban them? I was actually worried they may do this as there is one spot in Bristol where my phone occasionally decides I'm located in Sioux Falls.

I do wonder how much they would have cared about pokevision if it wasn't for people faking their GPS locations.

They already do this, kind of.

If you teleport somewhere and spin a pokestop or (try to) catch a pokemon you'll be softbanned for a period of time where you can no longer get items from a pokestop and every pokemon will break out of the pokeball first time and then run away straight away.

Getting un-softbanned is easy though, and catching pokemon after teleporting is as simple as teleporting back "home" before you throw the pokeball so that the game thinks that you caught it where you were previously. You can also loot pokestops in your "home" location so that you don't run out of pokeballs.

Stopping the teleporting and making softbanning actually work should be an easy fix, but there's no easy way for niantic to ban someone who just acts like a normal person walking around in, say, Central Park when they're really sat in London or whatever.

Ah yes, I guess if they're just moving about slowly not much you can do, I was thinking about people jumping around to get rares, but I guess they can't do that without things like pokevision anyway.

Its a shame, they're probably going to have to waste a lot of development time trying to stop cheating rather than improving the game.

Unfortunately they can still do it. There was someone streaming on Twitch earlier that was gps spoofing (no idea why Twitch aren't banning people since breaking a games TOS is against Twitch TOS and the dude wasn't even partnered) and he had 3.5k viewers and people were searching loads of places and posting co-ords in chat/discord etc for everyone else to go catch :(.

Niantic really need to sort out the softban being able to be worked around in like 2 minutes and being able to avoid a ban by porting back home before you catch.

Well its good to know it IS a bug after all and not a really bad design change. Its good their starting to communicate with us, though they really need to speed up their response time.

Thank god for that.

Is it wrong to wait for people to defeat high level gyms, put their own in there, walk off without training, after which I snoop in and take it over.

Did it twice tonight, but timing was in my favour; I barely waited a couple of minutes.
