Police advising to AVOID ALL TRAVEL in Central & Lothian & Borders areas from 2pm-9pm

Just cycled back. BBC had said there would be massive rain from 6pm.... I left uni at quarter too knowing it'd take about 7 minutes getting home. Rain started at 5 too... Probably a minute of torrential rain as I then sped up... Soaked through in seconds -.-

Police have declared a major incident at Lochalsh in the Highlands where strong winds have caused massive disruption. One person has been injured in the area as gale-force winds cause damage across the area. The person suffered slight injuries when the static caravan they were in was blown over at Lochailort. A roof has been blown off a building in Fort William onto the nearby bypass and a power line is down at Drumsallie. Nobody was injured when the windscreen of a bus was blown in. Many roads are affected by falling trees and surface water and the A82 at Onich has been closed indefinitely because of a rockslide a mile north of Corran Ferry. Fallen trees have blocked the B863 between Ballachulish and Kinlochleven, the B849 between Lochaline and Drimin, and the B8007 between Salen and Kilchoan. Northern Constabulary has declared a major incident and has set up an incident room at force headquarters in Inverness. People are advised not to travel if they can, particularly in Barra and South Uist.

The door to the flat stairwell has slammed so hard in the wind that it has shattered the frame, busted off its hinges and cracked the lintel

Rain here is pretty hard now but at least the wind has gone!!

2 power cuts already and my newly installed ups are going crazy with low voltage kicks.

Wind whistling that peculier sound when it hits over 70 miles per hour. Even our dogs are hunkered down in their kennels. Bulldogs were barking at the sky earlier when out.....silly mutts
Can hear bins sliding down the road......delivery vans still out working here ....mental really. Poor guys don't fancy high sided lorries in this weather.
About 10miles west of Glasgow airport.

Ahh fairs, the names are based the geographic location, storm, hurricane, cyclone, typhoon - all the same thing, an intense low pressure where wind from the higher pressure surrounding it rushes in to fill the low - When that's done it's finished
