Political Correctness Gone Mad Again

Well that's it then, a majority of half the population want something so the rest should just suck it up, lie back and ponder whether they should do the housework or cook dinner first.

What the hell are you on about? In case it escaped you attention the actual women working in this role aren't best pleased about the PDC's decision. What part of allowing women to do consensualy do a job fully clothed and earn money suggests that any one should 'suck it up, lie back and ponder whether they should do the housework or cook dinner first' what weird perverted world do you live in? I am not trying to say that women should be compelled to stick to more traditional gendered roles. I'm saying that women (and men) should be free to perform whatever role they are competent for and wish to do (subject to the usual restrictions on things that are illegal). In allowing people the freedom to do what they want I would expect that we would still see a gendered disparity in the roles performed because experience has shown that men and women left to their own devices, in a free market, as groups, do tend to show an increased tendency to stick to more typical gendered roles then more restrictive environment (contrary to what modern Marxist feminism suggests should happen) check out the nordic/ scandinavian gender paradox for this.

And this change change has not been made because of the fans but the broadcasters...

You really are the king/ queen for entirely ridiculous assertions and stereotypes now aren't you?

ps - you really should seek treatment for your paranoia about violent Marxists, before you know it, you will be terrified at the prospect of crawling out of your cave ;)

Its not paranoia violent Marxists have a very recent history of seriously disrupting business over perceived social justice issues....

Would Strictly be as entertaining if all the dancers wore jeans and a tshirt and didn't do their hair?

Is it also wrong that people at home watching Strictly fancy the dancers (both male and female) when they are all dressed up?

People have been dressing up since the dawn of time. The future is going to be very boring if we repress every human instinct.

Your strawman would hold more weight if this was about the dart players dressing up.

The dancers in Strictly, funnily enough, are the core aspect of the show. Without them, there is no show. Ring/Grid/Dart girls are not integral to any of those events, they are purely eye-candy.

There are dozens of background dancers, the presenters, the judges, the band members. Literally anyone who goes anywhere near the stage is dressed up in the style of a night out in a ballroom.

Just like any night out at a working mans club where Darts was held in the past people would be dressed puerly to promote the glamour of the event.

How is it different? anyone involved in promoting a show is employed and dressed accordingly to help project the image of the event.

Its not really a strawman/women the clothes the men and women wear for strictly actually, in a lot of cases, make it harder for them to do their dances...

The sole purpose of lot of the clothing worn is to tap into human nature which is to be attracted to youth and beauty. This type of attraction is generally more important for hetrosexual men then women and so its hardly surprising that its the female dancers who wear the even less practical and even more revealing outfits.

I would also note that the female presenters for programs like strictly and dancing on ice also attract a lot of attention for their dresses....

So am I to get you right that it's OK to objectify a women at work if her presence isn't solely there to be 'eye candy'?

How can you compare football and darts though? Darts is a game that has always been played in drinking establishments at night. Darts is promoted in the style of the working mans clubs that it originated.

Clubs have a history of compares, glamour and stage acts. Football has always been a more casual afternoon game played at a park.

Where do women in dresses come into this then if it's styled after a working men's club game? Not sure I've seen many women dressed for a cocktail bar go order a pint at my local. :p

I like women in dresses. Also men in suits. Also the fact that people in the West can choose to dress as they please. Transsexuals amuse me as they embody this concept to the max. I do have a problem with clowns though. They freak me out, guess that makes me clownist. Peace out dudes.

So you don't agree with clowns leading out players before a dart game?

Wait, simple flatcap working class men like drinking beer and looking at glamorous, unobtainable women?

This is unbelievable news! Strangely linked to an out dated, out moded way of life.

I'm wildly opposed to political correctness, but this just strikes me as the sport finally growing up at last. Using women as decoration at sporting events is just laughably juvenile.

Also, those ridiculous high heels make my feet hurt just by looking at them.

Yeah the list of women who would watch Darts or F1 but don't because they have a few pretty girls on TV at the start of an event must be in the millions, I expect their viewing figures will sky rocket.

It doesn't happen overnight, but sports like football show if you create safer, more welcoming atmospheres then you attract more women and kids to watch. The trade off is the vocal minority then moan about missing the good old days of fighting outside the stadium/throwing around some casual racist abuse/ogling the walk on girls, while the rest of us get on with watching the actual game.

Woman complaining about it are making the women who do it unemployed  it's not like they are naked or wearing just undies.
Indeed. I suspect most attractive women would probably want the opportunity to earn good money for simply walking around, looking good and getting attention. I know I would love that chance if I were a good looking guy woman. Average looking women probably aren't bothered either way. Less attractive women are probably happy it's being stopped. Some men will probably miss it. But the biggest impact will likely be women who find highly paid easy jobs evaporating.

I'm strongly against anyone being coerced into something they don't want to do. But it appears to me this is a progressive attempt to stop consenting adults from choosing a job they may actually want to do... because victim status.

Look where that's got us! Women now want to play football! No thank you. I want to stick to viewing women purely as objects to look at thank you very much!

Consenting adults might be up for having sex for money too but it's questionable whether prime time on Sky Sports is the right time to show it.
