24 - Both (Part mortgage part rent).

Building up an investment to add to a deposit on a house with some other savings.

22 - Mortgage, 80% capital. Remaining 20% will be cleared in 5 years or put in to another property or kept as savings depending on where rates are.

If my father was still alive I would be living at home.

27 - mortgage. Houses are dirt cheap up here. Will be letting it out - anyone want to rent a 2 bed house in Glasgow this summer onwards? ^^

22 and living at home (pay rent, quarter of wages)... I think I may kill myself after reading that back.

But on the other hand, no financial strain... able to afford what I want... drive a nice car...

My reasoning is that when my GF finishes her degree and gets a full time job (hopefully :( ) I will rent a place with her.

To be honest, unless I wanted to live in a depressing s***hole, I couldn't move out if I wanted to.

25 - still living with the rents but have nearly 18K saved for a deposit for when i decide to look into moving out

28 - rent with the misses, 40k in investments making approx 10% pa as well as putting 1.5- 2k aside each month. Rent works out far better for us. If I were to buy at the moment it would be in Rotherham which is cheap and prices are falling nicely. However I have no intentions of staying here long term so I won't take the hit with property and renting gives flexibility to move as required for work.

Owned our house outright for the last 5 years,Buying and selling and moving up the ladder.

I got my own business,Have a wonderful wife and 3 kids.I really am a happy man.

our house has been valued £500k not a bad nest egg.

sorry i'm 43

39...have had a mortgage for the past 15 yrs as i took over my parents mortgage when my dad left my mum....

23 living with my mum :)

Been a student for years with a rented place, that just eats money and in my mini non-student period I rented with a mate. No point for now, I have some inheritance set aside for buying a place when I need to (well a decent deposit), Mum seems happy enough to have me about after 4 years of living in NI which helps a lot too

Wouldn't buy just now (unless there is a need to live somewhere) as house prices still seem unrealistically high.
