He's on cloud cuckoo land. What worries me is that he's deranged enough to think that if he disbands the British Armed Forces first then everyone else, including the Islamic State, might want to get round a negotiating table with us and work out a solution for them disarming.

"It would be great if nobody needed a military" is not the same thing as "we will disband the British Armed Forces and then try and talk to everybody who comes to attack us". I'm sure you know that.

There's a reason a career back bencher with a penchant for distention within his own party is currently heading up the labour party despite the derision of the MPs who have made it their life's work to kiss the backside of power in the hope of catching a few crumbs and greedily gobbling their way to the top and it has nothing to do with his designs on power, like I say, if he'd desired power he would have lived his life very differently.
..and yet there he is suckling at the teat of power desperately trying to buy votes by promising "free everything" to anyone who will listen in a bid to enjoy all the perks he pretends to disdain.

It would be a pretty huge gamble for any hostile state to assume that Trident wouldn't be used, whether the serving PM is keen on it or not. What if the PM has a change of heart? What if the PM is replaced? What if the PM is overruled by Parliament, or the military decide to ignore the civilian government and act independently?
Thats what I mean though, with Corbyn as pm it would not be a factor as its clear he would not be prepared to use it. (thats a legitimate view to take but it just means we are spending billions on trident without a leader that would use it so its pointless then).

Theresa May London statement in full

Following updates from police and security officials (sorry about slashing your budgets, helping billionaires doesn't come cheap), I can confirm that the terrible incident in London is being treated as a potential act of terrorism (ISIS done it, this is going to win me the election).

This is a fast moving investigation. I want to express my huge gratitude to the police and emergency services who are on the scene (thank God I didn't get rid of all of them). Our thoughts are with those who are caught up in these dreadful events (not me of course, I'm safely in Downing Street thinking of Brexit)

Whilst May is doing the same thing but promising nothing but more cuts and misery.Tough choice for the electorate eh.

How's having no armed forces working out for Iceland? Or Andorra? Or Panama? Or the numerous other countries that don't have armed forces? Are they all awash with ISIS combatants?

Oh come on. You don't spend your whole career making yourself a near impossible proposition with in your own party if you want to get to the top, it's a very backwards way of doing it. Him being elected as leader was as big a surprise to him as to everyone else, bookies included.

You talk about free everything and it may not be perfectly accurate but a least they tried to cost their 'free everything' the tories didn't even think they needed to make the effort because they thought it was all in the bag.

Did he stand for leader?

It is a monumental gamble to ever assume we would not use it, no matter who the PM is. Prime Minister Corbyn makes nuclear retaliation less likely. It doesn't rule it out. If you were the leader of a nation that is hostile to the UK, would you gamble the lives of millions of civilians on the assumption that we won't fire back?

I wouldn't.

Did you think no one would fact check ;)

At the end of the day those countries have a very different status in the world compared to the UK.

Yeah, they aren't ex-empires trying to cling on to their glory days by interfering where they aren't wanted or needed.

How depressed do you have to be if you genuinely think that austerity is the only way to go

Austerity at the end of the day is a useful tool but it shouldn't be the only tool in your arsenal. To make money you have to actually use money.

Just watching BBC news at 10 and it's apparent that at least one of the three attackers from last night was again reported to the authorities (by another Muslim) and nothing was done.
