Absolute hogwash!
Show me in the history of the UK a single Senior police officer go on the record to describe an active PM as a liar!

Pinch of salt, the day you are responsible for the security and safety of 8 million Londoners, have your numbers slashed, listen to your boss lie and then have idiots say it's not a problem because on a single occasion a team came through, on that day you get to pus stuff under the carpet!

Show me in history an occasion when a police officer has had such an opportunity in a time of austerity and 24/7 media?

The real truth is somewhere bettween the two positions neither pm or police chief can be objective in these circumstances.

This is simply an awful response, there are clearly no examples of anything like this (though a moment ago you suggested it was common) so now say it's oh so different today and lets split the difference?

And what about the army? Didn't Corbyn once say he wished he could get rid of it?

What's wrong with wanting to get to a point where an army isn't needed?

For that matter, I'd love to have no need for doctors, police or the fire service either!

And those that still believe in stick analogies might not understand how different this zero sum game actually is!

Not to downplay the horrendous reality of it but people over-estimate the consequences of a full on nuclear exchange. There have been more nuclear tests exposed to the atmosphere than any one country holds nuclear weapons in their arsenal currently including one bomb that dwarfs the entire UK arsenal being used at once and the "nuclear winter" scenario that everyone is so scared of is based on a worst case situation where the exchange is fully big old dirty MT bombs used 100% against targets that would cause mass burn off (and favourable weather conditions) and not based on the reality where many of those devices would be used against military targets in remoter places and the take over of 100s of KT warheads instead of the big old cruder bombs.

No you asked for a specific example of a senior police officer calling the PM a liar. I previously said senior police officers criticising cuts was common place and it is. The current situation has just allowed the MET to go a step further.

But he's not a Senior Police Officer calling his boss a liar - he left the police 15 years ago in 2002 - there are members here who weren't even born when he was a copper although he does now have a nice consultancy advising corporate clients according to Linkedin.

It's hilariously naive.

Oh and I dunno about Corbyn, but his shadow-chancellor stated he wanted to get rid of MI5 back in 2015.

I'd get rid of the army the navy and the airforce tomorrow and form a single armed force with a streamlined command and control system, shared training logistics and supply and save a fortune in red tape and top brass but nobody in Whitehall will even dare to talk so radical so our forces will continue to suffer death by a thousand cuts while we fund three air services!

I can't remember off the top of my head so might be wrong but I think there was a good reason for keeping the airforce and army separate.

Surely as The Senior Service you would have to keep the Navy and get rid of the Army and Airforce instead?

So you're not really getting rid of them, you're just re-branding them.

Find one other than tradition and jobs for the boys! We also effectively have three armies (regular army, marines and raf regiment!)

See that is the mistake merging could never work to much 'history' wipe the slate clean and start over!

Getting really ******* bored of certain people just retyping **** over and over, like... we've argued the same point 20 times at least by this point.

At this point i'm just going to wait until new ******** arrives or the 8th, which ever comes first.

There is one aspect I just thought of actually - though traditionally hasn't really been much of an issue with the UK - it makes it much harder for a military coup to take place when you don't have just one concentrated armed force with one set of leadership.
