Porsche Killer

The GT-R gets a second look every time though, regardless of the person looking at it, joe public or car nut - Doesn't matter!

No it doesn't. I generally ignore them, much prefer to look at an work out what the Porsche in front/behind me is.

Mate iv had another bad day on the end of a **** week, let me try again.

I hate the shape of those Nissans and the interior.

I never go near a race track, i either sit in traffic in London, or drive on country roads near me house, either way what that Nissan does on a race track means jack **** to me, nor will it mean anything to 99% of Porsche buyers.

The fact its .2 of a second or whatever faster to 60 means jack because that just the difference between a driving god and mister average anyway, in other words there is no difference in performance in 99 out of 100 circumstances.

Just seen your edit, most Porsche people i know dont really care what other people think, i know im past caring.

I think the idea behind the adverts etc. is that 'a lowley Nissan is better than an almighty Porsche' but when it comes to costs, they are similar, so why bother to market the car as if it's 1/4 the price...I just don't get it, silly Nissan.

That whole advert smacks of desperation to me, if it really raised test drives so what?

One day when im bored enough and i find a Nissan dealer with one in stock i will have a test drive too, just to see what iv been slagging all this time is like, iv got no intention of buying one though.

You dont see proper car manufacturers out sticking stickers do you, bit chav if you ask me.

That is the other thing too, increase in test drives is irrelevant, increase in sales is what matters.

They have loads of electronic trickery so are brilliantly capable machines from what I understand, so are great, but they are no Porsche...and I am not a fan of Porsches.

A yank dude on youtube actually tried to make the point that the GTR is rubbish because the Corvette ZR1 is only 2 secs slower around the nurburgring and only costs £50k more :P

If I was choosing between the GTR/911 id go with the GTR, though it may be my age/conditioning, when performance is equal I always go for Jap cars, just prefer the feel.

With an additional 15k though you can swing by Switzer who will give you 800BHP with 800Nm torque and a 0-60 of 2.8 seconds too - From a car that's >1700KG :D

Switzer also do Porches so it's all fair :)

Im not a badge snob. If skoda made a better car than the GTR it would be my first choice. The GTR is a better car than the 911 turbo. Buying a porsche is a simple case of buying with the heart rather than the brain. Which is a good or bad thing depending on your outlook on life.

Gen 2 GT3 RS if I'm spending turbo money, Gen 2 GT3 if I'm spending new GT-R money. The statistics of any of them do not matter to me, I want the one that gives me the most goose bumps and that is the GT3. Steering, brakes, feel, engine from the very top draw with, at least to my eyes, exceptional looks and road presence. Do I care that a load of people think it's 'just a 911'?

You need to ask?

Do you like Porsches or something?

Depends on your location as to how rare these sorts of cars are, round these parts anything other than an F40 / Enzo / GT / Zonda rarely gets a second look, I'm looking forward to the McLaren dealership to open so it gives us all something new to look at!

GTR every time for me. Its price just shows how overpriced the Porsches actually are, sure the badge has prestige but not an extra 100% worth. Plus Porsches are, lets face it, bought purely for posing by 90% of customers hence why they're so bloody common!

Over and out :p :D

They are 'common' because of all the models available rather than just the one. It's like saying the Vauxhall Astra is rare because of all the Fords you see around. Not only that but although the purchase cost is low on the GT-R, they are bloody expensive to run. Bump into something and activate the pedestrian safety system, that'll be £11k for some hydraulic rams and a new ECU please.

That small bump cost the owner £11k
