This will surprise some of you... Mine is in pieces again, AOS failure. Just waiting on parts
40 kg heavier than the old engine
That's not good in my book, but I do think these are interesting. Let's hope they have changed the steering to bring back some of the 911 feel the 991 lost.
If I go back Porsche after the Mustang it will either be a 997.2 GTS or a Cayman GTS for me I think, GT4 is interesting but I'd want PDK.
Are you sure?
After a couple of months... I'm mildly wishing I'd gone with manual
AOS failure is nothing major, just very scary when it happens as smoke everywhere, looks like an engine explosion.
Just on a 911 AOS replacement is a rip off, part is not cheap and its not so easy to do.
I comparison on my M3 the AOS cost less than £20 and is a less than 10 minute DIY.
Was your car consuming oil? Normally sign of a worn/dirty or impending failure from AOS is high fuel consumption and some smoking from both exhaust.
Nope, PDK Sports Plus for me is better than manual, because with a manual it is always a manual.
I use car as a daily, so whilst car is cold AUTO is just easier, traffic jam easier, traffic light grand prix auto is far easier and less harsher on drivetrain.
The latest PDK in Sports Plus is very good, very much like a manual just without the pedal, almost similar to SMG. But older PDK and DSG systems yes I find to boring, to refined, but the newer stuff is much better.
Similar reasons I wanted PDK & I'm not saying I dislike it... just found that I do have a preference for a manual box that I didn't realise I had until I spent a few months with PDK.
I have Sport Chrono Plus & yes... in sport plus I know what you mean... I love the kick in the lower back you get on the upshifts.
As for older PDK/DSG systems are you referring to the non-dual-clutch autos that wouldn't be referred to as PDK/DSG? As I thought there was only one version of PDK in the 997.2/987.2 cars?
Incredible figures for the new 991. Can see the prices of the NAs being a bit stronger going forward. Hopefully 997 will drop a little further to possibly move into next year!
I've been starting to look at 997.1 Carrera 2S prices with some serious interest.
Seems I will need to pay at least £25K for a good one, manual being my preference.
What is the general consensus on residuals around this price point? I would look to keep it and use it for a few years but not heavily
911 still looking great, not bad for 10 years old, still looks fresh.
