Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Help me out here.

Doesn't the GT4 retail between 65k and 75k sterling?

If so then why -

Madness, frankly. Boils my **** this sort of thing, becoming a pure flippers market and many people are having to go without. Gone are the days of walking into an OPC, building your car, paying a deposit and awaiting delivery. The GT cars were always special, always in demand. Today however you feel you are doing well if a sales person doesn't laugh in your face, look you up and down, tut and walk away shaking their head chuntering 'chav' under their breath. Now you need to know funny handshakes, keep begging at their door and kiss the ass of every salesperson from end to end of the UK in the hope they might give you the time of day and consider you for purchase. Puts me off the company hugely.

Completely agree!
Porsche Wilmslow have a GT4 in their showroom right now, £104,000.
They also have a 997.2 GT3 RS, 100k over new asking price.

Insane! Build to demand simples, stop making it impossible for people to buy these great cars.

Porsche keep this up I know it is unlikely but companies like Lotus, McClaren could start to win business from Porsche and Lotus are starting to release what look like some really nice cars, a bit overpriced in my view but at 100k+ a GT4 is vastly over-priced, I'd rather just buy a second hand Ferrari, Maserati, a proper super-car. :)

I'm sure it's a good car. But like you, I think the premium is completely ridiculous. I could understand this behaviour some some independent one man band dealer. But this from an official franchise... Not cool.

Completely agree. My one is coming in at around 78k with extras and at that price is not bad but it's looking like it will be worth 100 to 105k and for that I would rather sell and but a GTS4 or even a 458. I know it's a different car but there is no way a Cayman would feel as nice to me as a 458.

That car is on SOR so the dealer probably has 5k in it. The rest is the owner.

I know that to get a gt3 my friend put a letter of intent in as soon as it was rumoured to be being announced and was asked for a sizeable deposit fairly early on, about 3 years before he got it on release day (only to then be recalled for 5 months)

I've got a LOI in with one dealer (Where I got my GTS from) for a GT3 but I placed that over a year ago now, I asked about giving a LOI for a GT3 at my local dealer and they wanted a 10K deposit to stand any chance. :(

Yep, I put down 5k a long long time ago on the gt4

LOI's often aren't worth the paper they are written on and the idea of lists and positions on lists has long since gone.

My dealer said they don't even take LOI's anymore. The DP decides who gets the cars now.

As you say you need to kiss ass and be buying new cars from them.

Even then I was told it wasn't 100% confirmed id get one. It's a complete lottery and it has put me off in some ways. :(

I don't mind paying a little over the odd if its in the condition and spec I required but paying 20 / 30K + odds is sheer lunacy!
