Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

I don't think he's picked it up, although he was going to if he had time this week.

By 'he' I mean Dr House by the way.

I did not get a chance this week, but I'm hoping mid week next week. My other car needs a service which the dealer owes one FOC so I will try and get it all done in one day.

In part I wanted to wait until my 991 was sold before collecting the GT4 as insurance would be a bit more of a pain.

Good plan :) If you're around it'd be brilliant to see the GT4 at the next meet.

OPC got their backside handed to them. The back story on this one is a CLASSIC example of what I have been saying about OPC's. Bent left, right and centre, doesn't matter if you are number uno on the list, if 'familiar face' walks in you lose.

This a rather interesting.

Autocar 911 S Vs F Type R

That's one good looking car. :)

However, on paragraph which is a bit eye opening:

Here comes surprise number one: the new
911 Carrera S is a very fast sports car. That may
not sound like a huge revelation, but before this car, Porsche had never made a ‘normal’ 911 (one without a Turbo or GT-series badge on its rump) capable of hitting 60mph from rest in less than 4.0sec. This one is, and by no small margin. A full road test on the car is to come, but we can reveal now that, equipped with a PDK transmission, Sport Chrono Plus and launch control, the new Carrera S took a scarcely believable 3.5sec to hit 60mph in our hands.
It’s quicker than a 996-generation Turbo, then,
and quicker even than a 997 GT3 RS. Believe it.

That's ridiculously nippy!!

It's getting to the point where the 'Turbo' model will need something else to make it attractive to customers - hybrid tech, carbon tub, lasers :p

It does, it runs the same 3.8 flat 6 it's always done but with more POWA!:D

On a side note though, the new turbo must be bonkers fast.

Autocar's 2016 Porsche 911 Turbo S review

The headlining 0-62mph time is the figure 911 product director August Achleitner prefers to drop into any discussion as a means of outlining the performance gains made, even revealing that the 2.9sec figure it is on the conservative side. “We’ve actually measured it at 2.6sec in individual runs,” he says.

Good God.

Anyone on here bought a cayenne diesel new and if so did you manage to push for any discounts? My father is close to pushing the button on one and i want to know what if anything is achievable.

Thanks

I could get 3% without pushing hard when they came out. Maybe a bit more now. If your dads not fixed on which dealer he wants to buy form let me know and I can talk to my guy and see what he can offer.

I love the Porsche logo integration into the rear bumper but those rear lights they look like they are off a golf. Also ouch with the price bump, no doubt they are going to sell well but I’m not interested in a flat 4. As for me one of the funidmentals of a sports car is the noise. :(

However, I am under no illusion that it will be an improvement over the 981 platform.

Do not want. There is no possible way that this new turbo 4 will be better than the 6. I don't care if it has more horsepowers and torks, it just won't be.

Hmmmm I can see the 981 Flat 6's increasing in price :D

if the improvements seen in the 911 are anything to go by, it'll still be at the top of my mid-life crisis car list.

i will still have fun test driving it, and if i don't like it, i won't buy it.

from that sound clip it sounds better than the outgoing car, and that sounded awesome in itself. love the sound of the turbo.

i want to see it in better colours than that crappy orange tho.
