Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

I spent a long time thinking about what car I would replace my 350Z with (6 months in fact) and went through all the logical process of working out which would be the best value for money, practical and just most sensible.

Then I drove a Cayman S :D

So I'm a rather happy owner of a 2010 Cayman S, with PDK, Sports Chrono, PASM.

Looks like a cracker that one! Good choice and as other have said, more pics please!

I need to take some more - but at the moment the car needs a proper clean and polish - will try and do it this weekend.

Excellent choice! I bet you're over the moon with that? How are you finding it compared to the 350Z?

I can highly recomend the PSE for a bit more added noise. :D

It's certainly a lot more car than the 350Z, I really was starting to miss it until I got the Cayman. There's quite a lot more feedback / nice feeling you get in the Cayman versus what was a little bit of a lardy car in the 350z. I love how that somehow even though the Cayman has the engine in the boot, there's pretty much the same amount of useable space - plus there's the spacious frunk too.

Fuel economy is on par with the 350Z, got 23mpg so far, I averaged 23mpg across my entire useage of the 350Z before. Granted, I don't really care what the mpg is, but I like to track it anyway :p

Sounds like a great car, congrats! Does it feel a lot faster than the Z or are they about the same?

Yes, it does feel quicker, it's nearly an extra second to 60, but I think the torque levels are similar, just there's ~30hp more. I did love the old V6 growl of the 350Z, the flat 6 is just as nice, but very different as you have the intake behind you and it loves to sing at high rpm!

Cannot wait to see this on Saturday in Geneva :)

New Porsche 911 R - Could this be the most exciting 911 ever?

mP4uTFL.jpg

Rumours have abounded or months but now we know for sure – the new Porsche 911 R has the 4-litre naturally aspirated flat-six from the GT3 RS, but none of the RS’s extreme aero and it has the smaller wheels and tyres from the GT3. It has a new six-speed manual gearbox, weighs 50kg less than an RS and Porsche will build just 991 at a basic price of £134,000 each. In short, it sounds tailored to the thrill of driving.

The outputs of the mighty engine are exactly the same as in the RS, which means 493bhp at 8250rpm and 339lb ft at 6250rpm. However, as the loses through the manual transmission are slightly less than the PDK, the amount of power reaching the rear wheels is slightly greater than in the RS. The 0-62mph time is being quoted as 3.8seconds and with far less drag the top speed is claimed to be a monstrous 201mph although even that is said to be a conservative figure.

Oh my, Porsche just made my dream car, 911R really is the stuff dreams are made off, 1250kg dry weight and 500BHP NA and setup for maximum road handling and entertainment. Simply wow, gotta be one of if not the best road car on sale today.

Looks like a great car. And would be great if it had all of the usual RS parts... Most importantly the rear spoiler.

At 130k its a bit of a bargain..... Wonder how much it'll really cost lol

Agreed, I can't get on with the lack of rear wing. They can go on about classic this and pure that, but all the iconic old ones had rear wings.

Get that Mustang traded in and do it :D :p

As great as it is 130k could get me a lot of nice cars, I only got the Mustang new because it was good value for money.

Admittedly the 911R is good value because you can bet they will trade hands for 150-200k.

I'd guess a lot more if you look at the GT3 RS price. I would hazzard a guess these will go for at least 300/400K due to the low number.
