Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Any 991 experts able to spot anything missing from this car? One thing I can't see is if it's only got the bog basic audio system. Likewise, how about this one with the aerokit?

The first car has a really nice spec, such a huge shame that it does not have bose. I don't know why buy it makes resale very hard but other than that its spot on.

I like to buy cars with PDLS and Enter and drive but they are not always easy to find. If that car had bose I would not think twice about buying it.

The white one is really not worth looking at, 4 way sears are crap, no memory. It also does not have bose. I love the PDCC but its not such a common extra.

Thanks for the help both, spending that sort of money I don't want to have to put up with terrible audio so will be giving both cars a swerve. Seems a shame as as Paras says the grey car would be a good buy if it wasn't just on standard audio.

No, no, no...... Please do not buy a 991 with a aero kit as they look rubbish, well to be honest, that's more of a personal thing really. The white car seems to be the standard white and the normal basic options.

IMO. The 911 (991) is best suited with the duck tail option, as these looks mega.

My inner chav loves the full aerokit :D but I agree the ducktail alone looks considerably better. Add in centre lock GTS wheels and I'll need a quiet moment to myself, shame the GTS looks to be £30k+ more than a C2S making it a tad over-budget.

You can retrofit a ducktail for not very much money.

I thought about doing it a few times.

At the budget your not looking for the bottom end of the market so be as fussy as you want and find the right car for you.

Looking to get a 911 as a daily driver. I can put up to £10k down, ~£600pm. Would want to to loose less than £20k over 3 years. Must have's - Sat Nav, Cruise, Decent Audio. Looking at used obviously.

Advice?

The ducktail looks so good on there, best combination to my eyes.

That's going to be a lot more then £600PM, id say you are looking at around £1000PM at least on PCP which such a small deposit, lets not forget a new car is £80K+ for the base model and then time you had your options you're looking at another 10/15K for a mid spec car.

This is assuming its a new car (991.2), this is a example from Porsche on the base car: http://www.porsche.com/uk/models/911/911-carrera/finance/

My recomendation would be to find a car with the Bose system as Burmester will be very rare. As far as sound systems go in Porsches they are not overly great, the Bose system is average at best to totally honest and the Burmester is good but not great. As with the 911 / Cayman / Boxster all the main speakers are in the front of the car, so not great for overall sound repoduction.

I was looking more at used models.

My view is:

Base system is a joke
Bose is only ok at best but essential to have.
Burmester is Fantastic but very expensive, It's 4 or 5k I think. Most of reviews of the burm seem to say it's one of the best systems you will fine in a car.

Has anyone noticed that 991 GTS prices are up over the last 12 months.

I was looking at car at around 90k with a high spec about 6 months ago. Same cars seem to be touching 100k now with only very poor spec cars going for low 90's! Shame I did not get one new the dealer was offering big discounts.

This car have everything I would want, but 110k is a bit too much I think.

The Porsche tax is a joke, frankly and I say that as a big 911 fan. I think the metallic red or blue is the best colour for the GTS, just looks so good in that colour and the duck tail is where it's at for me.

I've been noticing that over the past few month. However, how much further can it go? The GT3's have been pretty stable around the 130/135K mark.

I've been keeping a eye on the GTS price points and they have been increasing steadily. As a example I can still sell my GTS for what I paid for it, it's probably helps with the insane spec on it mind. It's also making me think twice about trading it in for another car.

A Macan is also another Porsche holding very strong money from new.

Do you want to sell your GTS? I have a friend that will give you strong money. Probably sell it back to you 2 months later for 8k less.

Really quite like the look of the 991 Targa, very balanced design.

Other than being slightly higher mileage than I'd prefer I can't see much wrong with this car. Any options/anything obvious I'm missing? Edit: although just noticed the steering wheel randomly changes in some photos, but advert lists that it has the sports design wheel.

Not really to be honest, there isn't anything that floats my boat at the moment. I drove it for the first time in a about 3/4 weeks at the weekend and it just makes me smile every time I drive it, it really is a fun car to drive. The only thing I need to do is replace the dreadful P-Zero's with a F1 AS2 (N-Rating). I've been giving it a lot of thought and the only thing ive I'd trade up for would be a GT3 but ill wait to see what happens with the 991.2 GT3's.

The McLaren as nice as it is, will drop like a stone in value over the next 2/3 if you use the 650 and MP4-12C as guides. So it would make a great second hand buy but not soo much of a new car.

Test drove a 2016 Cayman S on Friday morning for a good hour whilst my Z4M was being MOT'd by the BMW dealer opposite the Porshce one. I probably shouldn't of done. I am completely sold, I need a 981 Boxster S in my life, the handling in comparison to my Z4 was incredible, even if it was a couple of BHP down.

I couldn't afford a decent Boxster S when I got my Z4M 2 years ago, and I still can't now, but its certainly a goal to attain for. My only real stumbling block now is that my partner is insisting, and rightfully so, that we move from my 2 bed bachelor pad flat to a more upmarket house or flat in a better area, which means mortgage etc etc.

But wow Porsche, what a car. The handling of my previous MX5 with the power and luxury of my Z4, only, the combination of it all put together really takes it a step up even more as a sum of its parts vs taking them in individual attributes.

I am probably rambling, but its not often than I find a car and think "yes, this is what I need in my life".

As I have said on many occasions you REALLY need to drive a Porsche to form an opinion on why so many people like them and why they are so popular. I have never understood the 'you see them everywhere so I would not want one' brigade as that is simply cutting off your nose to spite your face. If you're a true petrol head what people think about your car, how popular it is, what image it carries should not matter when compared to how it makes you feel and the smile it puts on your face when you drive it. Boxster has been one of the finest, if not the finest, 2 seats sports car that normal people can own for over a decade in my book.

This is what I loved about my 911, people would rave to me how great a sorted MX5 or Lotus Elise/Exige handles, to which my response was but I have that great handling ability already, difference is I have it in a lovely GT coupe with heated seated, solid german build quality and it also goes seriously quick in a straight line and has traction in the wet that a Lotus or MX5 could only dream off.

A lot of people think your talking BS, until they drive one properly and then they are sold. The 997 onwards in 911's are epic, and the new 981 Boxster/Cayman are a huge leap on from the previous generations, they are now a match for their bigger 911 brothers.

I am still not ready to return to Porsche, but they really are fantastic kit and so capable out the box on road and track.
