Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

So I sold my GT4 around 2 weeks ago and this weekend I sold my 911. I have been hunting for replacement for a few days and I considered all sorts of things:

911 GTS - this is what I really want but I did not feel its wroth 30k more than my old car
R8 V10 Plus, still love the idea and found a nice one for 80k but I am a bit afraid of the depreciation and to be honest I would like the new one more which I assume will be down to around 90k in a year
M6 GC - seems to be amazing value and I was close to pulling the trigger, I did find one I liked but it sold and I could not find another one that I fancied.
TTRS - I don't know why but I still have a itch for one of these, obviously not in the same league as the other cars but I may just get one for a couple of months if I find one at a good price.
M2 - thought about it as I could get one at list but decided not to bother with the effort as I am not that interested.

So I bought a Cayenne 4.2 V8 D lol
I found a lovely spec car, agreed a deal at what I feel is a really good price for a car that was 80k 3 years ago.

Now the plan is to get a weekend toy to keep down in London, I'm in no rush and will keep an eye over the winter but I'm considering things a bit more exotic or may even get a GT4 with comfort seats which can be found for 10k less than I sold my one for.

I'm confused, I thought your GT4 didn't have buckets but had 18 ways? Isn't that comfort seats.

If you want the 911 GTS, why not buy one as logically its not going to loose any money quickly if that's the main worry or have a missed something else?

EDIT: I was thinking on my mates one, oops! However, a GT car IMO needs buckets.

RSR, mine had buckets. The look completely awesome but after a long drive it did leave me in a bit of pain for a couple of days. Having said that I have a some congenital back problems.

Im going to wait it out for a while until I find something I really want, for the winter I will be more than happy with Cayenne. There is a very good chance I will get into a GT 911 next so I may just wait for that.

The 911 GTS, I don't know I feel like they will drop in value. I think they are good cars but just a bit over priced and dose not represent good value for money at 100k.

Cleisthenes, im glad my random car purchases amuse you. I know its a bit strange but I do enjoy getting something new from time to time.

Im really looking forward to calling the car this weekend.

To be fair though, they are the last of the NA Flat 6 engines. So price will remain high for a while and may possible increase over time. However, with that said you don't know what the market is going to do one day to the next.

I think the GTS will be a safe bet for the moment, as the trend on them at the moment is upwards.

Changing the subject to the seats, I have no problems with mine over long drives as I find them pretty comfy but they are not the 918 buckets just the normal ones as in the GT3. The only problem is getting in and out of them takes a bit of getting used to and getting in and out of tight spaces is normally a no no. However, that's a one of the joys on having a weekend/fun car.

Yes I once tried to get my GF to get into the GT4 and she just would not do it lol. I think the seats are not bad but its just the way my back is setup I could not get comfortable in them. Having said that I have been hospitalized a couple of times due to back pain and have a couple of fused vertebra so its not going to be the same situation for others. The 18 ways on the other hand I so comfortable.

The cayenne has 850Nm of torque which should be interesting

Could not go backwards any more, do not keep it for long, not that you will haha.

I was not expecting a Cayenne diesel! As Gibbo rightly said - don't keep it for long... unless you've got a lot of towing/things to take to the tip in the near future!

Very early doors for me, but what are peoples thoughts on Boxster S's like this?

http://locator.porsche.com/ipl-customer/ipl/details/details.ipl?cid=1

Is it missing any must have options? I get it hasn't got the adaptive suspension or exhaust, is that a massive problem?

Boxster has been one of the finest, if not the finest, 2 seats sports car that normal people can own for over a decade in my book.

Is this spec dependant is what im asking, or is a poverty spec Boxster S still good?

Link doesn't work. :(

There isn't any thing wrong with the 2.7 version ether, some will argue that its a better road car as you can stretch its legs more often.

I'd recommend the follow:

PASM, PSE, PTV, Bose, 18 Ways as a minimum.

However, my ideal spec would be the following:

X73, PTV, PCCB, Buckets, PSE

Went to the Panamera night at my local dealership tonight. Looks a fantastic car, much better from the outside although still the awkward rear 1/4 view, but the rear looks much better overall. Inside is similar but the dash front and back are absolutely glorious with the new touchscreens in. A huge quantum leap for Porsche from PCM 3.0. All comes at a price though with the Turbo S they had on display at 134k....

Is there any way to search the used approved site for models with certain options or is it a case of clicking on car after car manually and looking?

I think I need PASM, PTV, Bose for my nneeds as well as phone connection either by cable or Bluetooth at a minimu . X73/buckets/18 way/PSE would be bonuses on top.

For those interested, here is the ruling on the OPC that decided to sell a customers ordered 991 GT3 RS after they had promised it to him more than once at which point he took them to court and won. This is what REALLY annoys me about the Porsche network. They will tell you what they need you to hear then shaft you if a face walks in they want to sell to more.

All those great cars and you went for that, each to their own I guess ;)

Haha well I thought I would try something different. I was very tempted by a Turbo S which was around the same price but I thought If I get a practical car I may as well do it right and get one that will not cost a arm and a leg to run.

That Cayenne looks pants :p

Actually I was thinking it does not look so good in the photos, we will see what they deliver it to me next week. I got it at a good price so I can move it on if I am not happy with it.

Probably though the winter, lets see.

It does look nice, I am going to the event in Cambridge tomorrow night. I still have a deposit paid but I don't know if I will buy it or not now.
