Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Cheers, it looks to me like you have to take the light out from what I'd read but quite hard to do if the bonnet won't open. Hopefully I can get access to it at lunch and have a look at the mechanism. Can I get to it without removing fasteners on the wheel arch or is it a bit more involved?

You can just feel it out by shoving your arm up the front bumper, it is possible. If you decide to go the wheel arch route then you will need to remove the arch as it is tucked in right at the back.

OK cheers. I'll check it out in a bit.

Thought it ight work witha quick spray of wd but its not opening. I will have to remove wheel arch at the weekend. Unfortunately ive got grills on the front so cant get access.

Anyone an expert on warranties and the 111 point inspection? Can't find details about the cost online, plus I assume that the check and warranty costs are separate so it's not like you pay the cost of the inspection and then if you buy a warranty you get that discounted?

I think the check price is included in the warranty cost, and that a new warranty will be slightly higher than a renewal. For my Cayman the renewal was about £900 for 1 year or £1500 for 2 years, but you'll need to speak to your local Porsche Centre for a specific quote.

From memory the 111-point check by itself is a couple of hundred quid, looked into it as a pre-purchase inspection on a different Cayman from an independent dealer.

Might be of interest! I think this shows that the GT halo cars are still very much in demand, but the prices of the more garden variety 911's including the air cooled models have stabilised and perhaps have fallen slightly. Collectors still going crazy for low mileage cars of any variety it would seem. LHD 911 GT3 would be an awesome track car if I were in the market.

Oh that's good news! I'll give a dealer a ring this week to get a scope on price, thanks for your help :)

981s, don't think they're 918 equivalents :D

sssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhh :p

Not sure if available yet but anyone tried the 718 Cayman or Boxster? Any preference vs the old NA 918's?

718 is a great car don't get me wrong and nearly every way its a improvement over the outgoing 981 models. However, the engine makes it feel inert and also changed the character of the car radically.

As noted a few times in the thread a 981 GTS would be my pick of the range, they have also shown a price rise over the last few months and still above list in many cases.

Would love a GTS but no way would I pay over list price for one. I don't desire such a car enough to be that daft (IMO), paying more than list price for second hand.
As I use m cars quite a lot a 2.7 981 might be better for me anyway, even if just not as fun as the top end models.
Always owned BMW's in the past and can see why :). My local dealer have a few pre reg M235i, M240i's in around the £31.5k mark, 10k off list with only delivery milage on them. Not quit the same league I know but quite a bargain compared to GTS pricing, used. However, longer run maybe the 981's will hold their values much better.

It's a shame Porsche couldn't use a larger displacement. The 2litre especially just seems too small a displacement.

I'd normally agree about paying over the odds. However, that said to obtain all "halo'ed" Porsche you will need pay over the odds or know the OPC very well. It's a shame but its how business works these day, abit a little wrong.

Its a big surprised to me as both GTS models (991 & 981) are holding price just above or around listing price depending on the model spec. It's great if you own one but I pain if your looking to get one second hand.

The 2.7 is a peach to be honest, as in some ways its better than the 3.4 as you get the rev the car out more often and thus get more enjoyment from the car. One of my friends has one of the last 2.7's off the production line and he loves the thing and can't speak highly enough of it.

I'd highly recommend driving one before making any choices and if you can get test day at the Porsche Experience Centre even better. I would assume you would still need to be looking at 35-40K for a well spec'ed 2.7 981

I discovered how much I love driving the 996 today - for all it's quirks and little issues it behaved flawlessly today. No problems with brake lights, gearbox or anything.

So all of those problems happened when it was incredibly hot in summer.... not ideal for a cabriolet! lol

It just drove really well today - although I still struggle to get more than 23mpg even driving like a granny....

And I might have been caught speeding by a police van. Thought I was doing 30 on digital speedo but then it dropped to 37 and it twigged I didn't see the bloody - on middle of the 8 because of the sun and I had a car up my butt the whole time so figured I wasn't speeding... Poo.

My father's 996 Turbo occasionally makes the brake light come on for no particular reason which is rather annoying. A very intermittent thing, but the local PC couldn't find anything wrong so who knows! They are lovely things though.

Mine very rarely does it, its maybe happened 2 or 3 times since i bought mine 3 years ago and always when its heavy rain so im thinking rain is shorting something out.

Got a couple of Porsche related presents today:

I am properly chuffed! The wallet has a carbon fibre strip inlay which is a nice little touch. :D

Any 991 experts able to spot anything missing from this car? One thing I can't see is if it's only got the bog basic audio system. Likewise, how about this one with the aerokit?

No, no, no...... Please do not buy a 991 with a aero kit as they look rubbish, well to be honest, that's more of a personal thing really. The white car seems to be the standard white and the normal basic options.

IMO. The 911 (991) is best suited with the duck tail option, as these looks mega.

The grey 911 seems a better buy out of the two of them, as it seems to have most of the main options. It’s not spec heavy looking at it to be honest but covers most of the bases. If it was me, it be wanting a few more options for the money. That side it all depends on what you are used to and what you are looking for out of the car.

Both cars have the standard speaker option.
