Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Parents having truly terrible service from Porsche and had to have service manager involved with the threat of going to another dealership. Been given a free sat nav update and rather than one of their stock cars, got the dealer principals Panamera GTS whilst theirs is in for some bodywork.

Didn't grab any proper photos, but was in the lovely light blue, with black wheels (eugh). The sound is glorious,, although trying to get my 65 yr old mum to put her foot down properly is easier said than done. Obviously still a big car though, and really masks the speed

Also looks like I'll be changing my Rads next week, as got a chunky leak unfortunately! Only on the drivers side, but figure may as well do both.

They seem to have gone up. Right now it's not really on my mind. Maybe in the summer if prices come down but I don't think so.

I just don't like the whole Ferrari experience. My father and I hit the showrooms in Exeter last weekend, Porsche, Ferrari/Massa, Jaguar, BMW, Audi and the best experience was probably Jaguar followed by Porsche, the Ferrari place just felt cold I think because of they was the sales person was talking about his brand and how dismissive he seemed of McLaren, who are going to eat their lunch not just some quaint little wannabe as it came across. BMW was laughable, hilarious in fact. :)

I do like BMW's but the dealers are just not nice to deal with. Porsche has been amazing. The car needs some work they come and pick it up, drop me another Porsche and bring it back when its done. Free Track days, fee meals, fee days out and race tickets. They pay my congestion charge if I go in to see them. It really makes me want to stay with the brand.

Im really thinking hard about that R8 I posted, I will decide over the weekend but it does seem like good value for a decent spec car.

Go drive it, they are rapid but I prefer the graphite wheels myself and removing the grey bit on the back end, just looks better but all can be fixed. Mine only had 3K miles on it, was like new so paid a premium for it and obviously from Audi directly. Great car, real event and so quick. The engine is a total masterpiece. Steering not Porsche good, but when the road opens out different level of performance to a GT4/GTS.

the back end does look a lot better and I do like the alloys, stop it you are getting me really tempted. What do you think at #72k (well that that I am thinking to offer), they bought it in last week at 68k.

As stupid as it sounds I drive to london and back every 2 weeks or so, what does it do on the motorway? I get around 30 to 35 mpg on the 911 (18 on the cayman lol)

If it's straight at that money is a steal. I've seen 32mpg, 28mpg it probably sensible.

I think it is, I spoke to the last owner and he said its a good clean car. Its only a few K on top of my 911 which will be paid for by the overs on my GT4 lol :D

I will put the offer in tomorrow morning and see if they accept.

I'm really disappointed. The R8 sold yesterday.

Shame but it seemed cheap for what is very special car with the wrong badge. You need to have a go in mine, but you'll need to get to the Midlands before the weekend as I'm off to Africa this time next week for a week and half.

What are the best places to buy Porsche suspension from please?

Aside from Design 911 and the Porsche Shop.

Also best breakers places?

It sounds daft but sometimes the OPC are quite competitive, i.e. on my old 996 C2 i got the M030 kit (4 x dampers, 4 x springs) for £550 so the cost of 2 dampers and it was a massive difference.

I've got my appointment with McLaren for a 570S, so the GTS maybe getting traded in as I have been offered the car to test out.:D:cool:

Which dealer?

I'm using Solihull, good reputation, took a lot of the good people from Sutton Porsche, including the guy I bought my GT3 off!

Anyone ever had any issues getting the bonnet to pop. Just tried mine this morning and i can hear something moving(its the facelift electrical switch) but there is no movement of the bonnet. Its quite annoying as it worked last night and i need to get my locking wheel nut key out at some point this week. Any ideas?

Cheers

Chris

Sorry should have mentioned it's a 996 facelift :).

Have a look at this image of my car in pieces, you will see a little metal cable just above the slam panel on the right hand side. This is the emergency release cable for the bonnet. You can put your hand up there and release it, alternatively you can take the passenger side wheel arch out and it runs through there.
