Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

If she isn't bothered in the slightest I cannot see the point in the hassle or expense of an older 911. Get something more modern and with AC so its more practical.

If you want to drive every day and everywhere I'd go for a more modern one. For the odd run out at the weekend an air cooled car would be fine. Are they going to be driving to and from the UK in it?

No. I imagine it'll be driven to Spain and then left there. Mostly used for pottering around with the odd longer trips around Spain.

I think a modern one would suit better. I imagine it would be much more comfortable.

So think I'm selling the 911 tomorrow. :(

Sad to see it go for such a cheap amount but £8k for a Cat C 1999 tip cabby with hard top without service etc. I have spent a bit on it since I bought it early last year (rear shocks and coffin arms). But since then roof has gone iffy and come loose, stereo is in pieces as i had to replace the wiring and was going to move the air con o the bottom whilst I was at it and it is due a service but for £8k they won't get anything - none of the spares. So i'll have brand new ARC coils, brand new exhaust heat shields and a barely used indoor car cover for sale soon.

I'm off to uni in a few weeks so the money will come in handy but if he doesn't buy it it's no great loss. I made the mistake of driving it the other night to give it a run and make sure things were ok- what a fantastic car to drive!

What is it with the used Porsche pricing? I know they hold their values pretty well but these days even more so? I was looking at a 2.7 981 Boxster earlier, pretty much poverty spec apart from 20" wheels, front and rear parking sensors. I would guess the car was around £40-42k new. It's a 2012 car, so an earlier 981 with 19k miles on it and the dealer wants £32850.1 know 19k miles is fairly low but it's still a 5 year old car! Woud have thought around £25k would be more like market value.

To be honest it's the same with the 997, AMG, M power and RS models as well, I've been keeping an eye on prices for the past 6 years and the prices have gone up and yet the cars have more miles and aren't as good condition due to wear and tear.

That sounds about right... although the new turbo 4-pots pushed the prices up.

My 987.2 S early 2010 was purchased at £24k with 24k miles and sold for £19k at the start of the year with 46k miles.

My 2016 981.1 S with quite a few options was £33k with 30k miles and has supposedly gone up in price :/

Was thinking used prices would be hit harder with all the talk of car credit being dished out a little too easily (encouraging new car purchases), then realised maybe that actually affects desirable used prices too.
I can understand the reaction to the 718 four-pot but as an overall package the newer car is of course all round improved....apart from the engine sound :) so would be surprised if those who could afford new would rather buy an older car for the better engine characteristic.
I remember back in Dec 2007 picking up a Z4 3.0 Si Couple, I think 10 months old, 2000 miles on it, for £22k (31-33k new).
Started looking as I thought autumn/winter hits ragtops harder.......or not in this time it seems.

Someone made a good point that people stopped buying sports cars after the recession, so 2008-2013 era cars are super rare and holding their values.

I noticed this when I was looking at m3's and Caymans. What I'd set myself as a budget (30k) put me smack bang in that era and there was definitely a shortage and resulting price premium.

Indeed, yet another reason to have the bankers of the sub prime mortgage lenders lined up and shot.

Yup - good luck finding a good SL55 AMG for anywhere near sensible money. These are now old and don't seem to have depreciated for about 5 years.

The financial crash has a lot to do with it, as the economy and peoples' wallets have improved, desire to own a sports car has also increased. With the prices of new 911's getting towards £100k for a pretty run of the mill one (with a few extras mind), why wouldn't you be looking to save some cash and buy second hand?

For the price of a new DB11 you can almost have a DB9 for every member of your close family.

New 911 GT3 Touring Pack. On route.... I don't think 911 R owners will be to happy with this lol.

Looks exactly like the 911R and is also manual only!

It's also not going to be limited projection model ether, so its peaked my interest.

+1 on the 08-13 cars holding their value. I got my 987 R for 42k at 5 years old which is something around 60-70% of the new price.

I opted for it over a 981 S expecting it to hold value better in the long term and the R's general value hasn't moved in the 9 months I've had it. Hoping it'll appreciate, if anything!

I kept eyeing up an M2 but the 18 month waiting list killed any desire. Then there was the 718 but the turbocharged 4-pot just isn't the same...

Hot damn that looks like a good package! The R I'm sure will still retain its value. I'm still not 100% sure of the looks of the 991 GT3 front bumper, but if I suddenly had enough cash to splurge on a new 911 this would definitely be the one.

911R's are falling away hard over here since the new GT3 became orderable. I can only imagine this will further reduce values.

My GT4 is about to cross 10k miles this month, after 15 months of ownership. Rock solid thus far, but will require new tyres very shortly. As it stands, it's still worth more than I paid for it new, which is a first for me.
