Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Legs still fit as they fit either side of the car, it's head height and kids don't work too well once you remove those.

They do ones now that you can remove when putting them into the car and re-attach when you get them out. It's only a minor inconvenience to you... their inconvenience... ummm

Apparently it's a semi-regular occurrence when they have to make a fundamental change to the factory process.

This is something for the new emissions regs... surprised its closed for so long (~3 months-ish?) for what sounds like a basic change. But I'm sure they wouldn't halt production for that long unless it was necessary.

But I was definitely told about it in Jan when I was talking about a 911 Turbo S order... would've been for delivery June/July, but with the closure it was going to be Sep/Oct.

I have an inkling they may be using the time to change production lines. The talk i was hearing was that basically everything is going to be a hybrid and theyre ditching diesels completely.

Yeah... I heard about changes for hybrids and mission-e too, so maybe that adds to it.

For production that size... I doubt diesel line is same as petrol... but dunno.

Check it's had an engine refurb. They like to lunch on cylinder bores.

Do the smaller displacement engines have such issues? Scoring is almost exclusively the later 3.8 variants. Do they go oval like the early 3.4’s? I thought that by the 54 plates (i.e. facelift) that this wasn’t such a problem. IMS bearings are something that can fail on any variant.

Great handling sports car with plenty of poke in the S variety. Buy with your eyes open as these are getting on a bit, wont be eligible for a Porsche warranty and will likely need a lot of components refreshing to keep it at its best. This could be reflected in a cheap asking price. Have you got a good independent garage or are you handy with spanners? If nothing goes wrong and you don’t need to do any major work on the car it shouldn’t be too expensive to run.
