The problem is that there is not enough storage to fit a suitcase front or back, especially for 2 people.

It’s probably too soon...

Can fit a decent sized bag/case in the front of the Boxster. Back...yeah it's a bit rubbish but I've fit an overnight bag in there. You just need to be careful about packing.

My Volvo is paid for, timing belt done last year, bushes arm just replaced last week so unless something go bang it will cost the minimal to run, I can keep it and run a Porsche side by side, and share the petrol and tyres between 2 cars. I guess a Cayman is no more thirsty than the Volvo. Keeping the C30 will take care of the “need bigger car” problem.

It does. And whilst I know your Volvo is in great condition there's sometimes places you just don't want to take/park the Porsche so having another car is always great.
Definitely set on a Cayman and not a Boxster? I drove both in 981 S and 718 S guises and simply loved the flat 6 in the 981. It was a close shout between the Cayman which I think looks better and handles better (the Boxster still handles better than anything else I've ever driven) but the Boxster won with just being able to drop the roof on it and really open the taps - it genuinely sounds that good.

Test drive both would be my advice. See if it does scratch the itch.

need my 911 servicing, believe its a major and plugs as its on the 4yr anniversary. Had quotes between 1000-1500 between two OPC's which I find weird, and yet I look on the porsche website and it says 675. anybody shed any light on the differences?

675 is I believe the major cost, the plugs aren't included so would be on top. Chances are they're including a brake fluid change which should be done every service according to Porsche. Only other things I would guess at are belts or PDK fluid changes.

I guess I am not a big fan of a soft top, I don’t mind convertible as I love a Z4, only the hard top convertible though.

I agree about having a “lesser” car for places, as honestly I wouldn’t dream of turning up to a wedding job in a Porsche, it seems almost rude not to mention impractical. The Volvo is just more leave it anywhere kind of a car as no one look twice at it.

Just looked at what I wrote down for wolverhampton. 829.52 which includes brake fluid and check/flip drive belt. Then 221.78 for the plugs. Looks about right I guess @ 1064. No idea how wilmslow was nearer 1500. Neither of them have seen the vehicle lol

The good thing about wolverhampton is that they are throwing in the 211 point check as it needs warranty on it! gonna be a 3k visit!!! But at least its all done for 2 years.

The top in the Boxster is a curious one as actually...it's largely a hard top just covered in fabric! I get the aesthetic point though. I think you really need to get yourself in a Cayman. 981's are probably out of budget sadly as I think that's where they really nailed the look but the 987 Cayman looks so much better than the 987 Boxster it's unreal. The proportions are just spot on.

i'm not clued up on the various 9xx numbers, which is newer? 981 or 987?

981 Cayman, drop dead gorgeous looks, proportions are perfectly balanced and still a 6 pot. I think they ran from 2009 to 2012.

I've got a thread open re. running one or two cars and generally I feel the concensus is to run one but such a hard decision to pic a good all rounder and daily.

I drop mine off tomorrow for its main service (4 Year) tomorrow and my quote is around 1100 ~ which includes the MOT. However, once I collect it the following weekend I can let you know the break down.

2012 - 2016 for the 981's. The Cayman really is proportioned perfectly. GT4 spec is possibly in my opinion one of the best looking cars ever.

@Raymond Lin if you can get yourself in a 981 do it. When I was looking last year though you were hitting 40k for a good S.

Think the goal is get myself in a 981, just watched a video and it seems the extra is worth it.

Last time I checked the 981's are going for a lot more than 20K and the options list is normally what sells the car as they can be exhaustive and expensive.

Yep. I've mentioned it on here before but the options go 2 ways, all or nothing. At the lower brackets it will be nothing. I'm talking even the basic steering wheel which is just awful. I paid around 40k for my Boxster but it has pretty much every box ticked.

I'm open to good offers on mine (There are very 981's few with pretty much every option on it) depending where they are upto with the 992 order list. As I need to see my sales person tomorrow to see what the last is on the 992. I know PTS is now up for order but nothing on the buckets yet.

Ah yes 2012-16...brain fart!... I was thinking of gen 2 997s as been eyeing them up over the last few days! :p
